Amazon’s Lord of the Rings Reveals the Location of the Series

It’s been a hot minute since word got out that a Lord of the Rings series is coming to the small screen, but when exactly this show would take place in J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy world has been a mystery to everyone. Amazon started teasing the show’s location on social media channels last month, releasing bits and pieces of an interactive map of Middle-earth to hungry fans. It was widely believed the show would focus on a young Aragorn,

How They De-Aged Samuel L. Jackson & Clark Gregg in Captain Marvel

Almost as proof of Peter Allen’s lyric that “everything old is new again,” the 90’s-set Captain Marvel has fun not only giddily referencing contemporaneous culture, but even retconning the MCU a bit.

It starts with the current incarnation of Captain Marvel—the former Ms. Marvel, Carol Danvers—as played by Brie Larson. Our heroine falls to Earth and lands, in this case, smack dab in a Blockbuster video store.

Samuel L. Jackson Addresses Why He Paged Captain Marvel So Late

Carol Danvers, where have you been all our lives? But, seriously. We could have used you before now. There have been some serious threats to the MCU, but by the time Thanos showed up and started scooping up Infinity Stones, we definitely could have used some backup.

Obviously, the Avengers do great work, but they weren’t enough to stop the baddest alien invader in the universe from destroying half of everything.

The Creepiest Characters in Aquaman Are Getting Their Own Film

Aqua-mania is real. After eclipsing Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises as the highest-grossing DC Comics film in history, it’s clear the King of Atlantis is here to stay.

While supporting the Aquaman exhibit at Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood, producer Peter Safran divulged exciting information about The Trench, the scheduled Aquaman spinoff he is working on with director James Wan.

Idris Elba is Joining the Suicide Squad in a Familiar Role

What a time to be an Idris Elba fan – and really, aren’t we all? The Avengers: Infinity War star will be making the leap from one comic universe to another. After news broke earlier this week that Will Smith would not be reprising his role of Deadshot in Suicide Squad, THR has confirmed that Elba will be stepping into the assassin’s shoes.

Smith reportedly has too much on his plate to return for the Suicide Squad sequel,

Watch the Trailer for Mindy Kaling’s Talk Show Laugher Late Night

Here is your first look at Mindy Kaling‘s film Late Night, one of the big hits at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Amazon quickly scooped it up, and now it’s set for a summer release. Late Night is centered on Kaling’s Molly Patel, an aspiring comedy writer who lands what appears to be a dream job writing for late night television host Katherine Newbury (Emma Thompson). In this world,

The Russo Brothers Share a Tear Jerking Captain America Tribute Video

The fate of Captain America is one of Avengers: Endgame‘s most solemn questions. We’ve known for a long time that Chris Evans is hanging up the vibranium shield after the conclusion to the Russo Brothers two-part epic. The Russo’s themselves have equivocated about this fact, telling us that Evans might not be done with Cap after Endgame. This flies in the face of Evan’s own comments:

“Officially wrapped on Avengers 4,”

Even George R.R. Martin Doesn’t Know How Game of Thrones Ends

Game of Thrones has been a delicate balancing act since the first season. Not because of the political battles that threaten the fragile balance of power or the struggle for life over death. It has been so tricky because the biggest game on television in the 2010s has been born of a book.

Everyone knows that George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire series inspired the hit show.

Captain Marvel Directors Joined Forces With Avengers: Endgame Directors

The countdown to Captain Marvel finally concludes this week, when the superhero makes her solo debut on Friday. This won’t be Ms. Marvel’s only rodeo, however – she’ll meet with the remaining Avengers in Endgame, and the directors for both films got the chance to join forces behind the scenes.

Captain Marvel directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck sat down with ComicBook.com and discussed their collaboration with Joe and Anthony Russo in relation to Captain Marvel and her upcoming role in the sequel to 2018’s Infinity War.

Angelina Jolie’s Vengeful Fairy is Back in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

She’s baaaaaaack. Disney has made it official: Maleficent 2 (now called Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) will be released this year. The return of Angelina Jolie‘s titular villain has been moved from May 2020 to October 18, 2019. We’ve been waiting to see the next step in Maleficent and Aurora (Elle Fanning)’s twisted relationship for five years. Jolie first donned the horns in Robert Stromberg’s 2014 film,

New Footage Highlights Dark Phoenix International Trailer

Last week’s Dark Phoenix trailer did something unexpected; it revealed the death of a major character. At least we were almost certain that the trailer showed Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique dying. Then co-writer/director Simon Kinberg confirmed it.

We get new footage in this international trailer without any major characters shockingly dying on us. This gives us a bit more of the story, including Jessica Chastain’s mysterious evil mentor character.

Breaking Down the Game of Thrones Season 8 Trailer

So you’ve seen the Game of Thrones season 8 trailer. Multiple times, if you’re anything like us. From the opening seconds, we get the distilled spirit of what’s to come in a single character—Arya Stark. At first, she’s running, panicked, through the dark. Then we see her coolly discussing death while holding her trusty sword, needle. She’s one of Game of Thrones’ most changed characters, from beloved youngest Stark daughter and tomboy to something entirely different.

Summer Festivals Will Never Seem the Same After This Midsommar Trailer

Thanks to Hereditary, I am still afraid that someone is floating in the corner of my room when I wake up in the night. It was the first movie that disturbed me on a visceral level as an adult. So, I am obviously ready to go back for seconds of whatever Ari Aster is serving up.

The next course he is dishing up is an unsettling cult nightmare called Midsommar.

The Last of the Living Prepare for Battle in Game of Thrones Trailer

This is the most hopeless and hopeful I have ever felt at once. The trailer for the final Game of Thrones season is filled with both bravery and despair and bleeds with every possible emotion.

So here we are. The friends and foes from each family that remains have banded together to stare down an overwhelming and relentless enemy. Will the final few reign victorious?

Faced with the overwhelming threat of the Army of the Dead,

Are Things as Happy-Go-Lucky for Shazam As They Appear in New Trailer?

Being super takes practice. In the latest trailer for Shazam, Billy Batson (Asher Angel) acquires his powers overnight, but it will take a lot longer to figure out how to use them.

We haven’t seen a trailer for the kid superhero movie since San Diego Comic Con last summer. The fun new look at the teenager transformation movie shows that being endowed with extraordinary abilities by a wizard doesn’t come with a handbook.

Watch Captain Marvel Kick Skrull Butt in new Clip

In just three days Captain Marvel will make her long-awaited big screen appearance. The excitement has been steadily building for Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s origin film, which stars Brie Larson as the human/Kree hybrid Carol Danvers. The 1990s setting, the fantastic cast (including a scene-stealing cat), and a bold, cosmic storyline are what the early buzz has been about. Earning major plaudits are Larson in the title role,

Samuel L. Jackson on his “Snack-Oriented” Captain Marvel Co-Star

The version of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson, of course) you see in Captain Marvel is a younger, less cynical S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. It’s not just the fact that he’s still got two eyes and a lot less mileage on him—he also seems to love cats. Fury has to be pulled away from Carol Danvers’ cat Goose in one of the trailers, and he seems slightly heartbroken. We now know from early screenings that Goose is one of the film’s most beloved characters.

Interview

Director, Screenwriter

Writer/Director Anthony Maras on his Harrowing Debut Hotel Mumbai

For his debut feature, Hotel Mumbai, out March 22, Anthony Maras wore many hats: director, executive producer, and co-writer. The film chronicles the siege by terrorists at the upscale Taj Hotel in Mumbai in 2008 that took the lives of more than 160 people and injured countless others.

Maras conducted months of research to pen the script, which weaves a tapestry of stories set throughout the hotel. He also assembled an outstanding ensemble cast led by Dev Patel,

The Conditions for the Final Game of Thrones Battle Were Brutal

For all of the craziness that has occurred on Game of Thrones, even the wildest moments are unlikely to stack up to what is to come. I am honestly exhausted after reading this deep dive by Entertainment Weekly into the episode long battle scene for the epic show’s final season.

You would probably be safe to say that of the Game of Thrones surviving cast,
