The Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror New Episode and Marathon Schedule

This year’s The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode was an ambitious instant classic that kicked off the FXX marathon. You can watch every Halloween themed Simpsons episode beginning tonight at 6pm. Last night’s episode marked Treehouse number 28 and it’s definitely going down as one of the most memorable.

With 29 seasons down, this was surprisingly the first time the show did a spoof of The Exorcist, but there is a lot of horror material to cover and only one Halloween episode each year. In the sketch, Maggie becomes possessed by Pazuzu after Homer orders the demonic idol in the mail. The infant goes on a murderous rampage to the unflappable reactions of her family. This was a well-executed homage worth the long wait.

The next segment was a stop motion riff on 2009’s Coraline. The story was strong, the animation was excellent, and the ending was a hilarious classic Homer twist on the situation. Iconic Coraline author Neil Gaiman even lent his voice to the family cat. Another solid segment.

The episode ended on a gross out note as Homer cannibalized himself. It was a really creative original that perfectly capitalized on Homer’s nature and the spirit of the holiday. The credits, of course, give creative Halloween twists to the names of the cast and crew so you’ll want to get your remote out to pause on all the jokes.

Here’s the official schedule (h/t Slash Film) to catch your favorite Treehouse of Horror episodes on FXX. Quick tips: The Shinning is Treehouse 5 and Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace is Treehouse 6.
