Legion Season 3 is in the Works, and it’s Only Getting Darker

The season finale of FX and Marvel’s Series Legion saw its protagonist, David, hit low points that only someone like Walter White would understand. And his downward spiral won’t be turning upward soon.

Dan Stevens’ David Haller, a mutant with psychic powers from the X-Men universe, has always been an antihero. He acts immorally because his grip on reality is shaky at best, and the Marvel comics more explicitly identify the multiple personalities—a legion of them—in his head.

The Star Fleet just got arguably its most legendary captain back (with all due respect to Captain Kirk). The rumor we’ve all been hoping is true has been confirmed—Sir Patrick Stewart is returning to reprise his role as Captain Jean Luc-Picard in a new series for CBS All Access.  Stewart shared the news on Twitter, as well as in a surprise appearance at a Star Trek convention in Las Vegas:

Composer

The Riverdale Composer on Mixing Melodrama with Archie’s Innocent Past

Riverdale of the classic Archie comics was a quaint and wholesome every town with a spotless reputation. In print for more than 75 years, a recent shakeup led Archie Comics CCO, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, to create Riverdale. The edgy soap opera saga finally acknowledged that so many rivalries couldn’t remain peaceful and there had to be a dark underbelly in the town. Criminal empires, student-teacher relationships, and murder mysteries plague Riverdale with the heart of the original Archie characters intact.

Netflix Promises that Stranger Things Season 3 Will Be Worth the Wait

I am officially establishing the Stranger Things withdrawal support group. Once you get a yearly taste of Stranger Things, it is going to be difficult to go back to the old ways. As we found out via the adorable mall themed teaser for season 3, the supernatural happenings in Hawkins are suspended until next summer. That’s an entire school year that we’ll be without the Upside Down.

James Corden Has a Mission Impossible Moment on The Late Late Show

This sketch of James Corden and Tom Cruise skydiving is the buddy comedy of the year. I saw the clip from last night’s The Late Late Show with James Corden and thought, “Eleven minutes? I’m not watching eleven minutes.” And then I watched it twice. It is absolutely darling.

Cruise has endless patience for being the most daring and professional action actor in Hollywood. Corden is (understandably) petrified which makes for some adorable interactions.

Cody Fern Will Play the Adult Version of a Memorable AHS: Apocalypse Character

Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are possibly the biggest risk takers in TV right now. Murphy’s Pose has been the most impactful show of the summer and Feud was just spectacular TV all around. American Horror Story has contorted to top itself each season, but I am not sure it can ever be as good as it was that first season. Even the credits sequence terrorized me.

HBO Gives a (Broad) Window for When Game of Thrones Will Return

We know the final season of Games of Thrones is coming, but just when it will arrive is an agonizing mystery. Mercifully, we aren’t being left out in the cold. HBO programming president Casey Bloys confirmed today that we are in the six months to one-year range. Rejoice! Bloys said at a Television Critics Association event today that season eight would begin in the first half of 2019.

The cast and crew have said goodbye to the idyllic sets they called home for eight seasons.

Three Former Secretaries of State Will Counsel Tea Leoni on Madam Secretary

Secretary of State is one of the loneliest jobs in the world, which is why it’s good to have friends when things get choppy. Secretary McCord (Téa Leoni) is going to find that out this fall when she falls into a tough spot. Luckily, she has backup. Former Secretaries of State Hillary Clinton, Colin Powell, and Madeleine Albright will be on call in Madam Secretary’s darkest hour.

CBS announced yesterday that Madam,

Steve Has a New Summer Job in First Stranger Things 3 Teaser

Remember malls? The place you went to show off your new perm, listen to your Walkman, and make out with your college boyfriend? Yah, me neither. I was ridiculously uncool in high school. Thankfully, Stranger Things is here to show us what the hippest spot in the center of the universe was doing in the mid-80s. A new mock-ad for Starcourt Mall! features American treasures like Wicks ‘n’ Sticks, Radio Shack, and Steve Harrington (Joe Keery).
