Will Smith’s Genie Finally Revealed in new Aladdin TV Spot
It’s official—Will Smith is very blue. And magical!
Disney has dropped the first TV spot for Guy Ritchie’s live-action remake of Aladdin, and it delivers our first peek at Will Smith’s blue-skinned, wish-fulfilling Genie. Smith stars opposite Mena Massoud as the lovable, down-on-his-luck Aladdin, with Naomi Scott as the potent Princess Jasmine. This version of Aladdin also boasts a suite of new songs by Alan Menken and La La Land songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
Meet Robot Chucky in the First Child’s Play Trailer
My greatest childhood terror is getting a hi-tech makeover. The first trailer for the Child’s Play remake reintroduces the doll of our nightmares with a 21st-century twist.
An overly optimistic advertisement introduces a robotic companion for kids. Obviously, a good idea. The plot is not overly stated here, which is appreciated, but we’re picking up on a single mom trying to cheer up her loner kid who is being bullied. The gift is immediately a little more invasive than anyone expected as it scans the poor boy’s face running a bright laser over his eyes.
Director Elizabeth Banks Shares First Photo of Charlie’s Angels Trio
We’re still several months away from Charlie’s Angels, a film reboot of the 1970s TV series, directed by Elizabeth Banks. A previous photo from Banks last September sent her followers in a frenzy, wishing her good luck on the venture—and requesting to see a pic of Charlie’s newest group of gals.
This week, the director did just that, taking to Twitter once more to give us a behind-the-scenes look of the franchise’s newest angels: Ella Balinska,
Captain Marvel Rocks Out in New TV Spot
Who is up for a game of laser tag? That is seriously a lost art that we should revive. Brie Larson proves in a new Captain Marvel TV spot that being the most powerful being in the universe doesn’t mean you have to be dull. She is kicking some serious alien butt and having fun doing it. Ok, she isn’t actually playing laser tag, but Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) does reference the bygone game.
Will Hulk Finally Get a Uniform in Avengers: Endgame?
Let the fandom rejoice! As we inch closer and closer to the release of one of the year’s biggest films, Avengers fans are getting all sorts of wild (and weird) information. We got a recent synopsis (neither wild nor weird, but telling). Then, earlier today, there was scuttlebutt over a new image of the remaining Avengers featured on—wait for it—Orville Redenbacher’s website as a part of a promotional tie-in.
Back to the Future With Star Trek: Discovery’s Production Designer
Star Trek: Discovery has been boldly going places even past incarnations of the iconic TV series have never been. It took a mere two episodes for the show to break completely new ground; the Starfleet’s first mutiny carried out by the star of the show, Sonequa Martin Green’s Michael Burnham.
The major advances are not the only narrative. Behind the scenes, a top-flight crew has been making the most of the latest technology and some very special locations to pull off the kind of show Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry would have loved and made,
Avengers: Endgame Synopsis Released
We’ve got our first look at the official Avengers: Endgame synopsis and two key lines make it worth a think. Disney’s Australian website has revealed the boilerplate for the Russo Brothers finale to their two-part epic. There’s nothing truly surprising here, but the bolded bits will give Marvel-heads something to consider:
“After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan,
Josh Gad Reportedly Bringing The Muppets Back to TV
There have been some odd pairs in the animal kingdom, but it turns out that mice and frogs can be the best of friends. Mickey Mouse is going to be giving his old friend, Kermit, a leg up on the studio’s new streaming site.
With the House of Mouse slated to unveil its Disney+ streaming service this year, all eyes are on what content the platform will be presented to users. It’s already confirmed that Disney+ will feature original films and series,
Celebrating the ASC’s Top 10 Films of the 20th Century
The American Society of Cinematographers recently released their “100 Milestone Films in Cinematography of 20th Century.” For the uninitiated (which is 99% of the viewing public), the ASC is “an honorary organization made up of the best cinematographers in the world,” says cinematographer Richard Crudo, ASC (this explains why you often see an “ASC” after a cinematographer’s name in the credits.) “Membership is by invitation only and is extended after the candidate has been proposed by members and has passed a screening process.”
The titles in the ASC’s list were compiled through an internal poll conducted by the Society.
First Shaft Trailer Unites Three Generations of Whoop-Ass
“I’m an equal opportunity ass-whooper!” Shaft is back! New Line Cinema made public the first trailer for the upcoming action comedy, set for release this summer. And guess what? The newest chapter in the Shaft franchise will have not one, not two, but three generations of New York’s smoothest private eye.
That’s right: the O.G. John Shaft, Richard Roundtree (from the original 1971 film) unites with Samuel L.
Holy Moly – This Pet Sematary Trailer Goes There
Goodness. Gracious. I am a Stephen King devotee and a Pet Sematary fanatic and I was still not prepared for what dropped on us today.
King’s resurrection warning is my favorite of his extraordinary collection of works. There is a lot to grab onto in this story and it looks like the creative team behind the upcoming adaptation dove in head first. I have never been so pleased with a trailer for a project where I so greatly value the source material.
Avengers: Endgame Directors Discuss Risks of Someone as Powerful as Captain Marvel
The countdown is on. With one month left until Captain Marvel premieres in theaters, the world will finally be introduced to Carol Danvers, woman warrior, and one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Disney teased her debut last week during the Super Bowl.
Following that is her most anticipated role in April, as the possible antidote to Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.
Star Trek: Discovery‘s Art Director Gives you the VIP Tour
When Art Director Jody Clement stepped in to work on CBS’s Star Trek: Discovery, she was no stranger to ambitious sci-fi television series. She’d already worked on Guillermo del Toro’s deliciously creepy The Strain, as well as BBC America’s narratively complex Orphan Black. For Star Trek: Discovery, Clement was stepping into both a major new show and TV history simultaneously.
“We do our initial research based on canon,
The Avatar Sequels Land Another Huge Star
The Avatar sequels continue to unfold as one of the most interesting productions ever assembled. More than a decade will pass between the first and second installments, and yet the third has already wrapped filming. Avatar 4 and 5 are planned to follow after, but we still don’t know much about the future of the franchise. To soothe our curiosity, however, we keep getting interesting tidbits like this one released today.
First Game of Thrones Season 8 Images Tease an Epic Ending
Finally, we can feast our eyes on the first images from Game of Thrones final season! And what an arresting batch they are—basically every major surviving player is represented in these portraits, give or take a Hound. Yes, HBO has done a bang-up job of keeping the frame tight around our remaining characters, lest they reveal anything to do with the plot. Still, seeing the likes of Arya, Sansa, Jon,
Star Trek: Discovery Set Designer on Developing New Worlds
Since 1966, Star Trek has been boldly going where no one has gone before. Through dozens of planets and vast reaches of space, the series has explored the most wonderful and most fearsome places the universe has to offer. Set designer Emilie Poulin is charting the Starfleet’s newest adventures on Star Trek: Discovery.
The locations on Star Trek: Discovery are very active. Because the storylines are rooted in exploration,
This new Dumbo International Trailer Soars
Tim Burton’s live-action Dumbo looks to be both a warm family film and a Burton-esque visual wonder. This new international trailer speaks to Burton’s ability to bring real pathos to his takes on classic children’s stories. Dumbo is based on the iconic 1941 animated film, with Burton adding his singular visual and emotional style to a story that has both magic and menace, as all the best children’s stories do.
Avengers: Endgame’ Runtime is Still 3 Hours
Avengers: Endgame is going to be the longest film in Marvel history. This was never really in question, even before the Russo Brothers told us that their first cut was sitting at 3-hours. At the time, we figured the movie would eventually end up being longer than Avengers: Infinity War considering it’s the capstone to Marvel’s Phase 3. Infinity War clocked in at two hours and 40-minutes long,
Clark Gregg Discusses His Mysterious New Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Role
Clark Gregg has been a mainstay of the MCU since the beginning. He appeared as Agent Phil Coulson in Iron Man when the series kicked off. Now that it has expanded for more than a decade and bled onto TV, Gregg is still around. He has survived the death of his own character and will be returning to season six of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
A teaser for the show features team members including Melinda (Ming-Na Wen) and Mack (Henry Simmons) mourning Coulson’s death.
What We Do In the Shadows Trailer Introduces New Breed of Vampire
Don’t believe in vampires? Here is a new theory that could make you a believer. According to the first full trailer for the What We Do in the Shadows spinoff series, not all vampires drink blood. there is an entire breed that survives by boring people to death. We all know them and are now going to be certain that they exist. Mostly in our offices.
These “energy vampires” are a highlight of the preview for the new series that appears to capitalize on all the things that were great about the original movie.
