Behold Bud Light’s Game of Thrones Super Bowl Ad

Big brands have always used the Super Bowl as an opportunity to flex their creative muscles. While we always expect new spots for major movies during the big game, like last night’s Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgameit’s always a guessing game which company will bring our their narrative big guns. Last year, Doritos dropped the second most surprising win at the Super Bowl (the Philadelphia Eagles beating the New England Patriots was the night’s most shocking victory) when they delivered their now iconic Game of Thrones-themed commercial.

The Avengers: Endgame Super Bowl Spot Delivers New Footage

“Some people move on. But not us.”

These are the somber but still stirring words that open the Avengers: Endgame Super Bowl spot. We first glimpse an eerily blue-lit, dark New York City skyline. The city’s famous skyline still stands tall, but it feels emptied and immeasurably sad. We know why this is, of course. The surviving members of the Avengers are scattered and broken (in more ways than one),

Go Higher, Further, Faster in Captain Marvel Super Bowl TV Spot

Higher. Further. Faster. This is the mantra we hear in the new Captain Marvel spot that aired during the Super Bowl, which was much more entertaining than the game. This a quick, thrilling 30-second adrenalin shot, showcasing Carol Danvers (Brie Larson)’s skills both in the cockpit of a fighter jet and in the full flower of her superhero persona, Captain Marvel. The only thing missing is Goose.

The spot begins with Carol Danvers in her Air Force gear,

A Black Panther Star Suggests Erik Killmonger Could Be Alive

A lot of villains have come and gone in the MCU, but short of Thanos, Erik Killmonger is almost certainly the most memorable. Michael B. Jordan’s performance was compelling and tragic. It was so gripping that we were almost disappointed to see T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) cut his rival down. Or did he? One of Jordan’s fellow Black Panther stars may know a little something about his character’s fate.

Marvel is notoriously careful about spoilers.

Director

Cold Pursuit Director Hans Petter Moland on Liam Neeson’s Killer Plowman

In Hans Petter Moland‘s Cold Pursuit, Liam Neeson plays a humble snowplow driver named Nels Coxman living in the winter wonderland of Kehoe, Colorado. The film opens with Nels receiving Kehoe’s ‘Citizen of the Year’ award, which hs gratefully (and awkwardly) accepts. His beaming wife, Grace (Laura Dern) looks on. All is well. For roughly four minutes or so. In no time at all, the fuzzy, warm feelings give way to the title’s promise;

Director Catherine Hardwicke Delivers Gina Rodriguez as Action Star in Miss Bala

Catherine Hardwicke was 48 years old when she directed her first feature-length film. That movie, Thirteen, a dark look at a tumultuous mother-daughter relationship, garnered Golden Globe nominations for its stars, Holly Hunter and Evan Rachel Wood, as well as an Oscar nod for Hunter and an Independent Spirit Award for Nikki Reed.

Though by Hollywood standards she came a bit late to directing, the success of Thirteen demonstrated she was meant to be at the helm.

Screening Audiences Are Going Wild for Captain Marvel‘s Cat

When it comes to cats, we humans just cannot compete. They’re soft, they’re sassy, and they are a portal to infinite dimensions. Ok, that last part may be specific to a particular kind of cat that we are about to meet. Word on the street is that Captain Marvel is cool and all, but the breakout star of the film is her cat, Goose.

Ever since the first poster for the film dropped,

Bird Box‘s VFX Supervisor on the Monster You Can’t See

What happens when Marcus Taormina tells people that he was the visual effects supervisor on the wildly popular Netflix film Bird Box?

“People have a ton of questions,” Taormina says, “but the central one is the creature question. I tell them that there is a lot on the editing room floor.”

What Bird Box’s invisible malefactors actually look like is one of the many ambiguities in the film that have preoccupied the Internet since Bird Box bowed over the Christmas holidays.

Bill Hader Had An Interesting Reaction to Pennywise While Filming IT Chapter Two

There are two camps of Saturday Night Live fans. The ones who hate when the actors break, and the ones who live for it. I am in that second camp, which is why Bill Hader is my favorite SNL star of all time. The man is honestly a genius and delivered some of the most brilliant sketches in the history of the series. He also could not keep a straight face through a single scene and it was pure magic.

Matt Reeves Teases The Batman Release Date & Tone

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about Matt Reeves’ upcoming standalone The Batman movie. The last time we heard from was when he weighed in on what particular comic The Batman would be based on. The answer? None.

“We’re not doing any particular [comic],” Reeves said during a panel at the Television Critics Association this past August. “Year One is one of the many comic books that I love.
