The Results of the Dragon Dogfight in Game of Thrones are in

Ever since the Night King felled Viserion with an expertly thrown spear in “Beyond the Wall,” a dragon dogfight was all but assured. Well, first the Night King had to command his wights to drag the dead dragon from the icy depths of a lake. Then he reanimated Viserion into the blue-eyed, undead beast. Then the dragon dogfight was all but assured. And finally, in “The Long Night,”

The Blue Blur is Back in Sonic the Hedgehog Trailer

The most famous super speedy spiny mammal of them all has finally raced onto the big screen in his own film. We’ve got the official trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog in all its zany glory. Sonic was first popularized via a video game some 30-years ago. The little guy proved so likable he’s never really faded away. The fact that he’s now headlining his own major motion picture isn’t all that surprising if you consider the recent crush of video game adaptations and live-action takes on funny,

That Crucial Black Widow & Hawkeye Scene Almost Ended Another way

If you haven’t seen Avengers: Endgame yet, this article ain’t for you. Spoiler alert. Many spoilers alert.

There were many surprising moments in Endgame that delighted. Chunky Drunk Thor (or Lebowski Thor, if you’d prefer). Captain America’s beautiful retirement. The fact that not only did Thanos get killed, but he got killed twice. And of course, there was Iron Man’s final act,

Game of Thrones Episode 4 Trailer Teases Coming Clash With Cersei

How do you follow one of the most ambitious episodes in television history? That’s the question we’re pondering after Game of Thrones delivered the long-awaited Battle of Winterfell, in which the living, thanks to Ayra Stark (!!), managed to survive the Night King’s assault. While a surprising number of our main characters survived (R.I.P. Jorah and Beric), a huge number of folks died during the battle. This includes nearly every single Dothraki.

How Avengers: Endgame Surpassed Expectations & Changed the MCU

Avengers: Endgame is a global phenomenon. That this was always going to be the case—the built-in fan base all but assured its box office dominance—really shouldn’t mitigate the fact that it has captured the imagination of this many people. Nor should we refrain from marveling (apologies) at the fact that this movie, capping an 11-year, 22-film grand experiment in world-building, delivered such an emotionally satisfying story. Endgame broke the record (by a mile) for the biggest opening weekend of all time.

“The Long Night”: Game of Thrones Episode 3 Shocks & Satisfies

If ever there was a weekend to make you believe in the power of popular culture, surely this was it. On the big screen, Avengers: Endgame made history at the box office, shattering records and capturing the imagination of a global audience. The mega-movie was the culmination of an 11-year, 22-film build-up. Somehow Endgame lived up to all that hype. On the small screen, Game of Thrones delivered the Battle of Winterfell.

Your Avengers: Endgame Survival Odds

Someone—or possibly someones—will not make it out of Avengers: Endgame alive. We’ve waited a year to find out how our survivors are going to get all the folks who died in Infinity War back. Yet what has always seemed likely is it would require some sort of tragic trade. The Avengers figure out a way to undo the Thanos Snap, but in doing so someone has to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Game of Thrones Director Calls Battle of Winterfell “Survival Horror”

Once the White Walkers got within spitting distance of Winterfell in “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” all thoughts turned to death. We know that some of our favorite characters are going to die in the coming battle. We’ve speculated on who that might be, and why. The internet, as always, is a verdant digital field of Game of Thrones theories. Many of them sound awfully plausible.

When to go to the Bathroom During Avengers: Endgame

You may have heard that Avengers: Endgame is long. Very long. Three-hours long. I don’t know about you, but there is zero chance I could get through a film this length without retiring to the bathroom. At least once. Timing when to dash out to the loo is a para-narrative that grows with intensity alongside any film I’m watching. It’s why aisle seats are mandatory for folks like me. It’s why I turn into an amateur fire marshall and pinpoint where the closest exit is when I’m choosing my location.

Screenwriter

Savannah Knoop on Adapting her Memoir Into the Fascinating J.T. LeRoy

It’s often said that truth is stranger than fiction. No doubt this adage applies to the remarkable story of Savannah Knoop, who as a young woman assumed the persona of J.T. LeRoy, an adolescent author admired for his gut-wrenching semi-autobiographical books with themes of childhood abuse and prostitution. In actuality, LeRoy didn’t exist. He was the creation of Knoop’s sister-in-law and the real writer, Laura Albert. When the public began clamoring for LeRoy, Albert asked Knoop to play the part.

Spoil Avengers: Endgame & Thanos Will Snap

Everyone involved in Avengers: Endgame is very serious about keeping the film’s secrets secret. How serious? Even the film’s stars weren’t quite sure how things were going to play out. Peter Parker himself, Tom Holland, was given a redacted script, detailing only certain elements of key scenes. Multiple endings were shot to throw off any would-be leakers. Even Marvel’s robust marketing campaign has gotten by on as little actual plot detail as possible.

Composer

Watching The Orville’s Composer Conduct a Live Orchestra to Scenes From the Show

They look laid back in their shorts, tee shirts, and running shoes, but the Los Angeles musicians gathered in the cavernous Newman Scoring Stage on the Fox Lot snap to attention with astonishing precision once snowy-haired composer John Debney arrives. Debney’s on hand to conduct his music for Seth MacFarlane‘s sci-fi series The Orville. The Fox show, which concludes its second season today, Thursday, April 25, draws inspiration from vintage space dramas like Star Trek Voyager and counts on Debney to enhance the old-school vibe with his brawny brass and string music cues.

Bond 25 Story Details & Full Cast Revealed

We’ve finally got some details for Bond 25 (yet no title yet). The film’s producers filled us in on casting, story details, and filming locations during a live event from the Goldeneye estate in Jamaica. Yup, Goldeneye is, in fact, a real place—it’s where Ian Fleming wrote the James Bond novels. Today, it functioned as the epicenter of all things Bond 25.

Here’s what we’ve known for a while.

Worlds Collide in two new Men in Black: International Trailers

If you’re going to reboot a franchise, it’s always a good idea to do so with two immensely talented, likable stars. Enter Thor: Ragnarok co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. Their onscreen chemistry was one of the (many) reasons Taiki Waititi’s Ragnarok was the best Thor film and one of the funniest Marvel films ever. Now the two have traded battling aliens on distant planets for policing them right here at home.

Game of Thrones Episode 3 Images Hint at Horror to Come

As we wrote yesterday, the time for talk is over.

Game of Thrones has entered the final phase in its titular lethal contest over who rules, who serves, and who dies. The premiere and the second episode gave us time to breathe. Danerys Targaryen and her vast southern army have been reluctantly absorbed into the north, by a people who don’t really trust them.

It’s a Whole New World in Fresh Aladdin Spot

If you can watch this new Aladdin TV spot without breaking into song, you’re made of stouter stuff than we are. This fresh look at Guy Ritchie’s live-action remake delivers a snippet of the classic song “A Whole New World,” making it very difficult (for some) to not join along. The spot also illuminates Naomi Scott’s stellar vocal chops.

We’ve also got another look at Will Smith’s Genie as he tries to refashion—quite literally—Aladdin (Mena Massoud) into a prince.

Avengers: Endgame Reviews Tout Blockbuster for the Ages

Yesterday we shared the initial—and highly emotional—reactions to Avengers: Endgame. The review embargo has now been lifted, folks. This means we can now gauge the full breadth of what critics are saying. The critical consensus seems to be this: Avengers: Endgame pulls off the seemingly impossible task of delivering an immensely satisfying capstone to Marvel’s decade-long, 22-film cinematic universe. Emotional, epic and ambitious,

Avengers: Endgame Talent on Their Road to This Epic Milestone

To celebrate the final chapter of their game-changing superhero saga that launched 11 years ago, stars aligned in downtown Los Angeles earlier this month to hang out, reminisce and talk up Avengers: Endgame. Hosted by Iron Man director Jon Favreau, the spoiler-free press conference included Robert Downey Jr., Danai Gurira, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Karen Gillan, Don Cheadle, Mark Ruffalo, sibling directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo plus Marvel Cinematic Universe puppet master Kevin Feige,

Which Major Character(s) Will die in The Battle of Winterfell?

We’ve had two bloodless, at times achingly heartfelt episodes to prepare us for what’s to come. Both “Winterfell” and “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” allowed us to spend some time with characters we’ve had nearly a decade to get to know. The third episode of Game of Thrones eighth and final season will offer no such opportunity for reflection.

Death has arrived in Winterfell.

The Final Godzilla: King of the Monsters Trailer is a Beast

Director Michael Dougherty’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters offers bigger, meaner monsters for the single price of a movie ticket. Gareth Edwards reintroduced the king of the monsters to the big screen in 2014’s Godzilla, which also had a bunch of other monsters in it. Yet Edwards’ film was more of a gorgeously rendered and evocatively staged epic, whereas Doughtery’s movie feels like a full blown monster mash.
