George R. R. Martin Reveals that the Starks Exist in Game of Thrones Prequel

The Game of Thrones prequel is currently filming in Northern Ireland, yet details about the project are as scarce as warmth beyond the Wall. You could fit the stuff we do know on the edge of Arya Stark’s sword Needle. Naomi Watts is starring, along with Harry Potter actress Miranda Richardson, rising star Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker),

New Images From Crawl Reveal Alligator-Infested Nightmare

Monsters are scary. Monsters underwater are a whole order of magnitude more terrifying. The premise of Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes)’s Crawl takes that concept and adds an environmental angle (a hurricane) to create what looks like a claustrophobic, “the water’s rising and there’s something in the water” nightmare. Now Paramount has released a bunch of new images from the film,

Mark Hamill Finally Explains The Last Jedi‘s Blue Milk

Rian Johnson‘s Star Wars: The Last Jedi was bold in so many ways. The writer/director took the narrative baton from J.J. Abrams after The Force Awakens and gave us a rich, complex middle trilogy film that challenged fans’ long-held beliefs about what made a Jedi and Rey (Daisy Ridley)’s parentage. There was also his decision to split up the three main good guys—Rey, Finn (John Boyega),

Todd Phillips Reveals the Plot of Joker is Entirely Original

The plot for Todd Phillips‘ Joker has been a well-guarded secret for a long time now. Even the excellent trailer left us with way more questions than answers. The script was co-written by Phillips and Scott Silver, and only the broad strokes have been more or less known for a while now. The film centers on Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck, a man “disregarded by society” per Warner Bros.’

Angelina Jolie Breaks Bad in new Maleficent: Mistress of Evil Trailer

Angelina Jolie returns to the big screen (as an actress, that is) in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil for the first time since 2015’s By the Sea. That film introduced us to Jolie’s titular villain, in which we found out her reasons (and there were plenty of them) for cursing her goddaughter,

New Images From Mulan Reveal Epic Warrior’s Tale

Now that we’ve gotten our first glimpse of director Niki Caro’s live-action remake of Mulan, we’re fully enthused. The story of the courageous young woman who disguises herself as a man so that she can take her ailing father’s place in the Imperial Army feels urgent and fresh. It’s helped by the fact that Caro and her cinematographer Mandy Walker have appeared to make a lush period war epic, not the type of descriptor you usually attach to live-action remakes of beloved Disney animated films.

The First Live-Action Mulan Trailer is a Stunner

The first trailer for Disney‘s live-action remake of Mulan is a thing of beauty. The last time we saw the story of the courageous young woman who disguises herself as a man in order to defend China from Northern Invaders, she, and everything else in the 1998 film, was animated. The new live-action retelling features a fantastic cast, stunning locations, and a director in Niki Caro (Whale Rider,

Ari Aster’s Terrifying Midsommar Pulls Horror Into the Light

It was a safe bet that Ari Aster‘s follow-up to his terrifying 2018 debut Hereditary was going to be good. While the sophomore slump was once considered a very real phenomenon, it seemed unlikely that Aster would whiff with his next feature. The question was could he shock and terrify in a totally refreshing way after having done that, and more, with his nearly flawless debut? The answer seems to be a resounding yes.
