Broken Down, Dirtied, and Greased Up: Designing the Costumes of A Series of Unfortunate Events

Evil has never had a more sumptuous wardrobe than in Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris), who fancies himself a great actor, utilizes thinly veiled, yet tremendously detailed costumes to fool the show’s dimwitted adults. Costume designer Cynthia Summers created Olaf’s many aliases, as well as the clothing for the rest of the cast, in season two.

“I think it’s wackier,” Summers said of the new episodes.

It turns out that recent John Mulaney appearance in Stefon’s Saturday Night Live return was really a teaser. The former SNL writer will be returning to sutdio 8H as a first time host next month. We’re super pumped to see his name finally appear on the famous SNL cork board.

Inside the Americans Writer’s Room with Screenwriter Justin Weinberger

Over the past five years—a period that has seen more quality TV than all previous years of televisual output combined—The Americans has established itself as one of television’s smartest dramas (even if the Emmy cognoscenti have been slow to realize it). Now in its sixth and final season, the FX series (starring Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as undercover Soviet spies living in Washington D.C. during the Cold War) is finally,

Watch This Emotional Reunion Between Mark Hamill and Yoda (and Puppeteer Frank Oz)

With the digital HD, Blu-ray and DVD of Star Wars: The Last Jedi all available now, glimpses of the bonus features are being released on the internet left and right. Yesterday we shared this hilarious gag reel, which includes Carrie Fisher slapping Oscar Isaac over 40 times for a pivotal scene between Leia and Poe Dameron (one wonders if writer/director Rian Johnson really needed all those takes).

Offred Escaped Gilead in Body, But Maybe Not in Mind in the Handmaid’s Tale Season 2 Trailer

As an adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s thrilling novel, we had a pretty good idea of where the first season of The Handmaid’s Tale was going. There were some newly introduced concepts and characters and a few surprises, but for the most part, the script told a similar story. Both, however, ended with a chilling cliffhanger. Where was Offred (Elisabeth Moss) going? Was Nick (Max Minghella) a member of Mayday or an Eye? In the book,

The doctor is in and what a patient roster. Robert Downey Jr. has been hanging out alone as the sole cast member of The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, but that has all changed. Downey Jr., who is active on Twitter, announced his new fellow cast members himself.

The Darkest Minds Trailer Reveals Superpowered Teens on the Run

Superheroes aren’t always adults (as Peter Parker has proved), and they’re not always operating in a world that cares for what they have to offer (see Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice). And sometimes, they’re not only not adults nor area they welcome, they’re being actively hunted or imprisoned. This the backdrop in which 20th Century Fox’s new film The Darkest Minds takes place, and a new trailer introduces us to a plucky group of very powerful kids in a story so timely it seems ripped from the headlines (and then filtered through a Marvel comic book).

Gina Rodriguez to Star as Carmen Sandiego in Animated series and Live-Action film

The great Gina Rodriguez is best known for her stellar work on The CW’s Jane the Virgin, yet the last time we saw her taking on a secret assignment, she was playing Anya Thorensen in Alex Garland’s trippy, super intense sci-fi film Annihilation. In that film, Rodriguez shed all remnants of her persona from Jane the Virgin and showed us a raw, vulnerable character who plunged into the mysterious Area X and found some seriously horrifying stuff.

Eli Roth Defies Expectations With The House With a Clock in Its Walls

Eli Roth has directed a…children’s movie?

Well, not quite, but the director of Hostel and Cabin Fever‘s latest film, The House With a Clock in Its Walls, is based on a children’s book by novelist John Bellairs (with wonderful illustrations by Edward Gorey), and was produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, so it’s a far cry from the gory films he made his reputation on.

Groot Sasses and T’Challa Inspires in New Avengers: Infinity War Teaser

The Avengers are our only hope to save the universe. If a heavily armed group of mutants, aliens, superheroes, super minds, and gods can’t stop Thanos (Josh Brolin), who can? And yet, success is not guaranteed. A new Avengers: Infinity War spot threatens that loss is inevitable—we already know for sure one of our favorites won’t be back after Avengers 4. But will the loss come in the battle or the war?

Watch Carrie Fisher Slap Oscar Isaac Silly in Fantastic Star Wars: The Last Jedi Gag Reel

We’ve shared a lot of juicy behind-the-scenes videos from Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Like this video about some very good dogs helping them create the crystal foxes), or this one, which includes 11-minutes of footage from the documentary The Director and the Jedi. These morsels of Star Wars goodness began hitting the internet in the lead up to the release of The Last Jedi‘s digital HD became available,

Michael B. Jordan Producing World War II Drama About an All-Black Combat Unit Called The Liberators

While Chadwick Boseman was the King in Black Panther (a tough role he executed brilliantly), Michael B. Jordan’s turn as his tortured, brutal nemesis Killmonger was one of the all-time great villain performances in history. Both actors are on top of the film world right now, and it’ll be a joy to watch what they do next. (In the very near term, we can’t wait to see Boseman host SNL on April 7).

Captain America & Black Widow Enter Avengers: Infinity War After Brutal Period of Covert Avenging

About two weeks ago we wrote about how Captain America (Chris Evans) had formed a Secret Avengers in the wake of the Avengers-vs.-Avengers brawl in Captain America: Civil War. This bit of information came from a suite of new toys released ahead of Avengers: Infinity War, which included this bit: “Since opposing the Sokovia Accords, the super-soldier has remained under the radar while continuing to do what he believes is right—saving the world one clandestine mission at a time.”

The Sokovia Accords created the central conflict in Civil War.

Watch one of the Best Scenes in Star Wars History

For all the thrilling scenes in writer/director Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the climatic fight that took place in Snoke’s blood-red throne room was one for the ages. In fact, we think it’s one of the best scenes in any Star Wars film, period. It’s not only technically brilliant and expertly performed, its also narratively crucial and genuinely, deliciously shocking. This fight between brand new allies Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Supreme Leader Snoke’s Praetorian Guard is available,

Largely Absent From Promo Material, Here’s the Hawkeye-Centric Avengers: Infinity War Poster he Deserves

The superhero that Thanos should be most worried about has neither super strength, an insanely advanced armored suit, telekinetic powers, an Infinity Stone in his forehead, the ability to manipulate space-time, or anything remotely paranormal, supernatural or God-like. What he does have is really good aim. Plus some really cool arrows. We’re obviously taking about Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), the one Avenger who we haven’t seen in any promotional materials for Avengers: Infinity War in a long,

Avengers: Infinity War: The Delightfully Zany Theories About the Location of the Soul Stone

The Infinity Stones might be the most definitive MacGuffins of any film this century. You could argue that they are among the most definitive MacGuffins of all time. As described by the Marvel Cinematic Universe wiki, Infinity Stones are “six immensely powerful objects tied to different aspects of the universe, created by the Cosmic Entities so that…each of the stones can possess unique capabilities that have been enhanced and altered by various alien civilizations for over millennia of years.”

Watch Tense First Trailer for Everest Director Baltasar Kormakur’s new Survival Film Adift

Director Baltasar Kormakur has made a stellar career making films about human beings pushed to their absolute limits by nature. He made two of the  most intense survival films of this century; 2002’s The Sea and 2015’s Everest, the latter of which tracked the unfolding tragedy atop the highest peak that was a master class in epic filmmaking. His latest, Adrift, returns the Icelandic auteur to the ocean to follow the true story of sailors Tami Oldham (Shailene Woodley) and Richard Sharp (Sam Claflin),

Watch how Real Dogs Helped Create The Crystal Foxes in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s crystal foxes had a small but pivotal role in the film, yet they’d never have looked so glorious if it weren’t for a few very good and very real doggies that stepped in during pre-production to lend a paw. In a new video released online (a lot of great new material is surfacing thanks to The Last Jedi being available for digital download) you’ll see how writer/director Rian Johnson and The Last Jedi team used some canine friends to help create one of the film’s most memorable creatures.

Borg vs. McEnroe Trailer Captures the Vicious Rivalry of Two Tennis Legends

Long before the Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic’s men’s tennis domination, there was Borg vs. McEnroe. They were two incredibly talented players, but the spectacle was a bigger story than their serves. After the success of I, Tonya, NEON doubled down with another famous sports story and the trailer is appropriately wild.

Underneath the big hair and short shorts of the 80s burned a fierce rivalry to be number 1.

New Avengers: Infinity War Images, Plus Chadwick Boseman & Mark Ruffalo Talk Thanos

You’ve probably noticed an uptick in Avengers: Infinity War coverage. That’s because with the historic, billion dollar (and growing) Black Panther now officially the stuff of Marvel legend, all eyes turns towards the juggernaut studio’s upcoming film, the biggest in their decade-long run of box office and cultural dominance. As the studio ramps up Infinity War‘s promotion, what that means for you is new images (see below),
