AMC Has Plans to Turn The Walking Dead Into a Major Franchise

The Walking Dead is as difficult to put down as the walkers themselves. In fact, it seems to be spreading. Andrew Lincoln is exiting the original series, but that still isn’t the kill shot that will put this franchise down. And why should it? So many strong characters have emerged over the course of the series. Rick would never have made it this far without Michonne (Danai Gurira), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Maggie (Lauren Cohan) or Carol (Melissa McBride).

They also intend to expand into original programming and that means that some of the Avengers are making the move.

Saying Goodbye to Game of Thrones and Preparing for Spinoffs set 5,000 Years Earlier

We didn’t get a single new episode of Game of Thrones in 2018, but it’s ever-present in our hearts and minds. After winning Best Drama Series at last night’s Emmys the waterworks have started. (You can read our interveiw with GoT‘s Emmy-nominated sound designer here.) It’s setting in we really only have one more season in Westeros. It turns out that the cast is in as much mourning as their fans.

All of Your Winners from the 70th Emmy Awards

It was a truly Marvelous night at the 70th Emmy Awards. Seriously. There was even a live proposal. And there was also a lot of really great TV being honored with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel leading the way. The Amazon comedy swept up four wins including Best Comedy Series in its first year of streaming. The rest of the winners also cemented the fact that streaming is here to stay.

Host or Human? Aaron Paul Joins Season 3 of Westworld

Aaron Paul is heading west once more. According to Deadline, the Breaking Bad and The Path star has landed a spot on season 3 of Westworld. Details are scarce about the role, including if Paul’s character will be human, host, or something in between. He is, however, expected to be a series regular which means we’ll have plenty of time to find out everything about him.

My theory on who he might be is wrapped up in season 2 spoilers,

Your Nominees Cheat Sheet for the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards

Television was once considered a more commonplace form of entertainment than movies. Cinema held the prestige and TV was focused on quantity for more regular consumption. Those days are no longer. Television is now achieving film quality programming, often on tighter schedules and lower budgets than it’s theatrical relative. The increase in excellent programming is clearly represented in the nominees for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards.

Shows like Ozark and Godless that are dark and daring grabbed our attention.

Sabrina Celebrates Her 16th Birthday in First Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Trailer

Birthdays are apparently a big deal among the Spellman clan. The first poster and teaser for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina feature the teenage witch celebrating another trip around the sun. Her party has the normal things all birthday parties do. Cake, dancing, and a horned demon that everyone worships.

Ok, maybe that last part is a little unusual. In fact, there’s a lot of unique happenings in the first look at the Riverdale spinoff.

The AHS: Apocalypse Trailer is a Greatest Hits Bonanza

The first trailer for American Horror Story: Apocalypse is completely batty. Familiar characters may have returned, but the suffocating angst of Murder House and glamorous sophistication of Coven have given way to the outrageous. Some of the most fun personas from the series return in a wild mashup mixed with a wild new storyline.

“No need for the rules anymore. The chaos has won,” the trailer declares.

American Horror Story: Apocalypse Drops Cryptic, Creepy new Teaser

When we interviewed American Horror Story: Cult‘s Emmy-nominated actress Adina Porter, she couldn’t say much about Apocalypse, save for the fact she was in the makeup chair preparing for a scene when she found out she’d been nominated for her performance in Cult. Which was to be expected; Ryan Murphy loves keeping his upcoming seasons quiet and doling out cryptic, creepy little morsels to keep fans guessing.

Henry Cavill Will be the Lead in Netflix’s Fantasy Series The Witcher

He’s gone toe-to-toe with Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Cyborg AND Tom Cruise. We’re talking about Henry Cavill, who in recent years has played Superman (battling Batman, twice, in Batman v Superman and briefly in Justice League) and CIA bruiser August Walker in Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Now Cavill’s heading to the small screen for Netflix’s The Witcher,

Mysteries Abound in Riverdale Season 3 Trailer

Is it ever spring in Riverdale? The doom, gloom, and teenage angst seems to hang over the town in an autumn wintry haze. But let’s be honest. We are here for the drama and drama there shall be. Season 3 even seems to be slipping into the occult, perhaps a small nod to showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s Afterlife with Archie zombie series. Aguirre-Sacasa also created the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina the definitely looks like it will have ritualistic elements.

Watch Black Panther‘s Fight Coordinator Bring the Pain to Iron Fist

Think stunt coordinator Clayton Barber knows a thing or two about staging a good fight? First, take the fact that the man is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and was known as The Matador when he competed. Second, have a look at some of his film credits since he began using his skills to help make on-screen action look more realistic: he was a stunt performer in John Wick: Chapter 2 and The Fate of the Furious and a fight coordinator in Ryan Coogler’s last two films,

Hulu’s The First Trailer Sees 5 Astronauts Braving a Journey to Mars

“They all say the same thing; I’ll believe it when I see it. But that’s backward. Belief comes first. Only then can you see it.” These are the words of aerospace magnate Laz Ingram (Natascha McElhone) to the man she wants to lead a mission to Mars in Hulu’s The First. That man is Tom Hagerty (Sean Penn), who is being asked to leave his daughter and take on a potentially suicidal mission to the Red Planet,

Jessica Jones‘ Emmy-Nominated Composer on the Twisted Intimacy of Season 2

Composer Sean Callery may be an Emmy veteran, but the four-time winner and 17-time nominee never takes any of this for granted. His latest nom is for his work on season 2 of Neflix’s Jessica Jones, the same show he won an Emmy for last year, for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music.

“It never gets old,” Callery says of his near-perpetual Emmy recognition. “You might think it does,

Still catching your breath from that Sharp Objects finale (and the mid-credits scene)? You’re not alone. How The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘s Emmy-Nominated Editor Gave Midge her Sparkling Start

Timing is everything, or so the saying goes, in comedy. This is just one of the lessons the truly marvelous Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) learns on her journey to develop a stand-up set when her personal life hits turbulent times. That timing is particularly brisk on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The show was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, known for writing the breakneck dialogue of Gilmore Girls. The new Amazon series is sharp,

Emmy Nominated Ozark Cinematographer on the Show’s Bleak & Immersive Style

Ozark is relentless. Whether an emotional reunion, a difficult decision, a gruesome death, or a grisly torture, the camera offers no relief. You cannot look away, but you likely will not want to. The show’s cinematography is compelling and immersive, capitalizing on some of the strongest performances of the season from a cast that includes Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Julia Garner, and Peter Mullan. Director of Photography Ben Kutchins received an Emmy nomination for his work on the complex season finale packed with emotional bombshells.
