If you’ve seen Sideways, About Schmidt, The Descendants, or Nebraska, you’re likely headed to the theater this weekend to see Alexander Payne’s newest project Downsizing. You have also seen the work of longtime collaborator Kevin Tent who has been the editor on all of those movies and more. After years of collaborating with Payne, Tent stepped out on his own to direct the neurotically funny Crash Pad this year.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has wrapped. Queenie herself confirmed the news in yesterday’s #WizardingWednesdays post. She may be a whiz at extracting emotions with her wand, but actress Alison Sudol had a little trouble with the clapboard.

The Fight Over the Briefcase Scene in Kingsman: The Golden Circle Took Months to Make

The Kingsman films take you inside the very grisly and highly stylized action with breakneck pacing and how-in-the-world-did-they-film-that sequences. High on substance and style, you really feel like you’re getting a 360 degree view of the fight scenes, and often it appears as though you’re watching a single take. Of course, it’s actually hundreds of shots and special effects spliced together, but the results are stunningly believable and utterly seamless.

In The Golden Circle,

The First Sicario 2: Soldado Trailer Teases Bracing Thriller

We’ve had the privilege of speaking with Sicario 2: Soldado screenwriter Tyler Sheridan three times. Most recently, it was for his directorial debut, Wind River (which he also wrote), about the murder of a young Native American woman in rural Wyoming. Wind River was the third film in Sheridan’s trilogy about the state of the American frontier, which also included Hell or High Water,

London Wheels Across the Globe in New Mortal Engines Trailer

Life as we know it has ended in the stunning new trailer for Mortal Engines. With the Earth nearly barren, humans are surviving on ecosystems living on massive mobile machinery that crushes the very sparse remaining trees like blades of grass. Larger cities devour smaller vehicles, presumably to consume their resources.

The movie, based on the novel by Philip Reeves, looks like a Mad Max on steroids with overly industrialized vehicles traversing a dusty landscape.

The IT Special Features Promise More Substance and Scares

Stephen King’s IT runs more than 1,000 pages, and although Andy Muschetti and the rest of the filmmaking team split it into 2 films, that’s still a lot of ground to cover.  The film does a masterful job of capturing the evil spirit of King’s work, but some things were added, changed, and even deleted. EW posted a hilarious alternate opening scene and Bloody Disgusting has now shared the featurettes and deleted scenes that will accompany the home video release.

In an effort to persuade her to form an alliance, he pushes her to let go of the past, insisting she’s held onto it for too long. He names Luke and the Jedi as antiquated ways of life, but his obsession with his own history with Luke turns out to be his greatest downfall yet.

Meet the Man (Besides George Lucas) Who Made Star Wars Possible

Alan Ladd Junior, best known as ‘Laddie’ to friends and business associates, is probably not a name you’ve ever heard before. Yet, as you discuss your thoughts about Star Wars: The Last Jedi, know that without Laddie, Rian Johnson’s film, and the entire Star Wars franchise, would likely never have happened.
