Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald Wraps Production

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has wrapped. Queenie herself confirmed the news in yesterday’s #WizardingWednesdays post. She may be a whiz at extracting emotions with her wand, but actress Alison Sudol had a little trouble with the clapboard.

The second of the five film Fantastic Beasts series is set for a November 16 release. Cast and crew have officially completed principal photography, which means we may start getting set photos soon. The first enchanted cast photo was released last month showing off the fabulous 1920s inspired fashion and our first look at Jude Law as a young, but still majestic, Dumbledore.

After the Harry Potter films fully immersed us in the English wizarding world, Fantastic Beasts took us to America and explored the magical side of New York. The Crimes of Grindelwald will debut the Parisian wizarding world as Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) is called upon by Dumbledore to pursue the dark wizard. Just how Newt’s magizoology expertise will help bring the most evil wizard to justice is unclear, but we know that his knowledge will be immortalized in his bestselling text book.

Johnny Depp will play Grindelwald in the new film after Colin Farrell assumed the role in Fantastic Beasts before being unmasked. Katherin Waterson, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, and Ezra Miller will return in their supporting roles. We are holding out hopes that Jacob (Fogler) and Queenie (Sudol) will rekindle their romance after she had to wipe his memory following the first film. Zoe Kravitz, Callum Turner and Claudia Kim also join the cast.

Director David Yates racks up his sixth wizarding world movie with The Crimes of Grindelwald. Yates had been directing the films since Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. J.K. Rowling penned the script, which is always a great omen.
