Let’s Discuss That Epic Twist in Watchmen‘s Brilliant Episode “An Almost Religious Awe”
Last week we interviewed Watchmen costume designer Megan Kasperlik about her brilliant work on one of TV’s most thrilling new shows. In the world of Watchmen, what a character wears tells you a lot. Does their mask have an inkblot on it? Then they’re a part of the white supremacist group the 7th Calvary. Does her mask come with a badge? Then you’re talking about someone like Angela Abar (Regina King),
Watchmen’s Costume Designer Meghan Kasperlik on This Extraordinary Series
Now that Watchmen has made its glorious debut on HBO and confounded just about every expectation, we can say with confidence that Damon Lindelof’s adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons iconic graphic novel is a remarkable testament to the original and a bold, powerful piece of original storytelling itself. The reason is Lindelof and his incredible team of writers, directors, actors, and crew hasn’t adapted the graphic novel itself,
Tom Hiddleston Watching his Thor Audition is Hilarious
Tom Hiddleston has been one of the most reliably delightful figures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since he first made his sneering entrance as Loki in Joss Whedon’s game-changing Avengers in 2012. Yet did you know Hiddleston actually auditioned for the role of Thor? The two Asgardian brothers really couldn’t be more different. Loki, as the trickster God, is not only a morally vacuous opportunist, he’s also willowy, dark-haired, and petulant. Thor, of course,
Here’s the First Teaser for The Walking Dead: World Beyond
The world of The Walking Dead is getting even bigger. AMC has revealed our first full look at their latest spinoff, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, which stars Julie Ormond as Elizabeth, a leader of a large, ferocious force contending with, you guessed it, the zombie apocalypse. “We are the last light of the world,” Ormond’s Elizabeth says in the new teaser. “We are the last hope.” Then we see members of her masked forces do some pretty brutal stuff,
Netflix Reveals Chilling Official Trailer for Vampire Series V Wars
There are no Edward Cullens or Eric Northmans here. For those of us who came of age during Twilight, a vampire is a dashing, pale eternal teenager who likes to brood and fight with hot-tempered werewolves—see Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen. If you were more of a True Blood girl, then sure, your vampires were vicious, but they still looked like Alexander Skarsgård’s Eric Northman or Evan Rachel Wood‘s Sophie-Anne Leclerq.
How The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’s Production Designer Helped Expand Thra
When director and executive producer Louis Leterrier got to work on The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, he knew he needed serious artists to help pull off his ambitious vision for this return trip to the mythical Thra. Leterrier’s update builds on the world first created by Jim Henson and Frank Oz’s classic 1982 film The Dark Crystal. Henson, a wizard of the practical effect and the brains behind The Muppets,
A Special Look at The Mandalorian Gives us Fantastic Barroom Brawl
The Mandalorian is here, folks. One of the most marquee new series for Disney + officially debuts today, and to get you into the bounty hunting mood, we’ve got our longest look at a single scene yet in this new video. It gives us Pedro Pascal’s titular hero (called Mando by a goon who will regret getting in his face) walking into a bar. It’s like the set up to a Star Wars joke,
Here Are All the Marvel Films and Disney + Series Coming Your Way
Marvel Studios president and chief creative officer Kevin Feige recently told Bloomberg that the upcoming Disney + series Loki absolutely does connect to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. “I’m not sure we’ve actually acknowledged that before. But it does [connect],” he said.
This isn’t surprising considering Feige has already gone on record to say that the Marvel series that will be exclusively on Disney’s new streaming service Disney + will all connect to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It’s an Epic Bear Attack in new His Dark Materials Trailer
Now that HBO’s new epic fantasy series His Dark Materials has bowed (spectacularly, we might add), we’ve got a fresh trailer on our hands that looks at the weeks ahead. And while we’re thrilled to follow Lyra Belacqua (Dafne Keen) as her adventure becomes wilder and more dangerous, there’s one particular moment everyone’s waiting for—the armored bear attack.
The premiere episode “Lyra’s Jordan” delivered in a big way,
Does His Dark Materials Title Sequence Rival Game Of Thrones?
The excitement surrounding HBO’s big-budget adaptation of Phillip Pullman’s beloved novel series has been growing steadily for a while now. His Dark Materials was one of the most buzzed-about projects not coming from Marvel at this past summer’s Comic-Con, and the early reviews have been very, very positive. With the show premiering tonight at 9 pm EST, we’ve got a look at the title sequence, and it’s fantastic.
Behold the Epic new Trailer for The Witcher
Now this should get folks excited. For all you awaiting a closer look at The Witcher, Netflix has released a new trailer that dives way deeper into the mythology of this story than the previous trailer. One of the buzziest projects at this past Comic-Con, The Witcher is based on the popular fantasy books by Andrzej Sapkowski and centers on Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill),
It’s Official—the Game of Thrones Prequel House of the Dragon Coming to HBO
HBO has made it official in a tweet heard around the world (and Westeros)—they’ve ordered House of the Dragon, a Game of Thrones prequel dealing with the Targaryens, straight to series.
#HouseOfTheDragon, a #GameofThrones prequel is coming to @HBO.
The series is co-created by @GRRMSpeaking and Ryan Condal. Miguel Sapochnik will partner with Condal as showrunner and will direct the pilot and additional episodes.
The Mandalorian‘s Second Trailer Highlights Intense Action, Awesome Creatures
If you’re looking to punch up the second trailer to your hotly anticipated new Star Wars show (the first live-action series from the franchise, by the by), you can’t do any better than with dialogue from Werner Herzog. His inimitable German-accented English is the first thing we hear in The Mandalorian‘s second full trailer. He asks whether or not the galaxy is a safer place since the revolution. The question is posed over the image of Stormtrooper helmets on pikes.
Chance the Rapper Highlights Hilarious SNL Short Space Mistakes
When SNL wants to skewer a film genre, they often do so with one of their brilliant, expertly crafted digital shorts. This is what they did with their recent short Grouch, which had some fun with Todd Phillips’ Joker by imagining a dark and gritty origin story for Sesame Street‘s Oscar the Grouch. If you haven’t watched it yet, we highly suggest you do—you’ll never look at Sesame Street the same way again.
First Reactions to The Mandalorian Rave About Disney +’s Star Wars Series
Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian, the first-ever live-action Star Wars series, doesn’t premiere until November 12th, but we’ve already got some of our first reactions to the series hitting the internet. For Star Wars fans and those simply curious about what a live-action Star Wars series might be like, it’s time to start getting excited about this show.
Roughly 27-minutes of footage were screened for a few lucky journalists during Disney +’s press day.
Watch Original “Watchmen” Artist Dave Gibbons Draw Regina King’s Character From HBO’s new Series
This is cool. One of the two original co-creators of “Watchmen,” artist Dave Gibbons, appears in a new video from HBO. Gibbons draws Regina King’s character from the premium cable channel’s hotly-anticipated upcoming adaptation—of sorts—of his and Alan Moore’s seminal 1986 graphic novel. (Not only is Watchmen hotly-anticipated, but it’s already earning rave reviews from critics.) Gibbons and Moore’s creation is one of the most beloved, hallowed graphic novels of all time.
Rogue One Writer Tony Gilroy Joining Cassian Andor Star Wars Prequel Series
Rogue One‘s co-writer Tony Gilroy will be writing the pilot for a prequel series centered on one of that film’s characters, Diego Luna’s heroic Cassian Andor. Not only that, but Gilroy will be directing multiple episodes of the series, which he’ll be working on with showrunner Stephen Schiff.
Variety broke the story that Gilroy will be working on the still-untitled show that will focus on Luna’s Rebel agent in the years leading up to the events in Rogue One,
Watchmen Reactions Tease HBO’s Newest Thrilling, Epic Saga
The first reviews for Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen for HBO are in, and it’s time to get very excited about HBO’s next big series. It seems like the key to adapting Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s iconic “Watchmen” graphic novel was to be as bold as they were in creating their 1986 masterpiece. IndieWire‘s Ben Travers writes that “HBO’s stunning sequel series wrestles with big questions about American identity without sacrificing big-scale entertainment.”
You Need to Watch SNL’s Instant Classic Digital Short Grouch
Sometimes you just know it immediately when Saturday Night Live has pulled off an instant classic. On this past Saturday night’s episode, host David Harbour became Grouch in a pitch-perfect parody of Todd Phillips’ Joker. It was the kind of video that highlights some of SNL‘s most potent strengths, which includes taking some hugely popular or talked about piece of the zeitgeist and distilling it down to its most absurd elements.
It’s David Harbour Versus a Peacock in SNL Promo
We’ve already been enjoying the 45th season of Saturday Night Live, which started off the year with two great hosts; Woody Harrelson and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It’s also been fun watching newcomer Bowen Yang, who seems like a legitimate star-in-the-making. For the season’s next episode, your third host is Stranger Things star David Harbour. While the fate of his Stranger Things character Jim Hopper is a big unknown at the moment,
