Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Takes Over Abbey Road

Michael Giacchino has all the fun these days. Lucky for us, he usually shares the best moments of his magical, musical days on Twitter. If you missed his awesome cameo in Coco, a still of his skeletal character is currently his avatar. Scroll back to mid-February and he tweeted his first day recording The Incredibles 2, the sequel to one of his earliest forays into film. And now he’s back in the recording studio for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

In his never-ending quest to emotionally destroy us, Dan Fogelman has written and directed a new film and our tear ducts cannot. The teaser for Life Itself is out today and we have no idea what it’s about, but we bawled.

See All 10-Years of the MCU Films Before Thanos Destroys It All in Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War has been a 10-year buildup of introducing characters, storylines, and assembling the greatest heroes in the universe. It’s been hard to keep up with – or keep track of – it all. Catching every MCU movie has been almost as hard as finding all six Soul Stones. If you’re a little behind or need a refresher, here’s your chance. AMC Theaters is hosting a mega marathon of every MCU film to date in the lead up to Infinity War.

Ready Player One Reactions at SXSW Rejoice at Spielberg’s Return to Blockbuster Form

It was big news when the film world found out Steven Spielberg would be adapting Ernest Cline’s blockbuster sci-fi novel “Ready Player One,” and now, after a screening of the film at SXSW, the first reactions are hailing the legendary director’s return to the blockbuster format he practically invented. Lovers of the novel, lovers of the many 1980s pop culture references Cline built his novel around, and lovers of Spielberg’s blockbusters, rejoice—Ready Player One works.

The Final Rampage Trailer is Gloriously Gonzo

We’re going to go out on a limb and say Dwayne Johnson had fun making Rampage. Directed by Brad Peyton, the Warner Bros.’ adaptation from the classic video game should be nothing but fun, considering its’ source material is one of the most classic arcade games of all time, and not, say, a 19th century novel about land rights in Russia. Rampage is about three monstrously genetically-modified animals that take the title of the film very seriously.

The First Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald Trailer Finds Dumbledore at Hogwarts

Muggles are enjoying spring break, but the wizarding world is heading back to school – and back in time. The place is Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and the time is the 1920s when Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) was merely a professor. The first trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald finally unites Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) with Dumbledore and the results are – well – magical.

Back when security at the school was much lower,

Build Your Own Ill-Fated Jurassic Park With the Help of Jeff Goldblum

If there is anything that Dr. Ian Malcolm has taught us, it’s that life finds a way. If there’s a 2nd thing that Dr. Ian Malcolm has taught us, it’s to never harvest dinosaur DNA from a mosquito in petrified amber and recreate an extinct species for fun and enjoyment. Unless, of course, it’s a video game. Then he’ll definitely help you. In a mega 90’s mashup of nostalgia, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be releasing a new video game designed by none other than the creators of RollerCoaster Tycoon and voiced by Jeff Goldblum.

Lean on Pete‘s Composer on why This Gorgeous Film Needed a Live Score

Though the score created for Lean on Pete is placed only in chosen scenes, those scenes are chosen expertly. A Wrinkle in Time‘s Producer on her 55-Year Journey to Bring This Film to Life

Since its publication in 1962, Madeleine L’Engle’s novel “A Wrinkle in Time” has earned the affection of millions of fans. In fact, many of the people who worked on Disney’s new cinematic adaptation have loved the book for years.

It seems impossible though that any of them have loved the book as much as producer Catherine Hand, who wanted to make it a feature film when she first read it in 1963.

Jessica Jones Season 2 Returns During a Cultural Moment she Seemed to Anticipate

You’re favorite anti-heroine is back, and she arrives during a larger cultural moment in which her brand of righteous justice feels absolutely timely. Jessica Jones won fans over when it was released back on Netflix in 2015, which feels like roughly another lifetime ago. Embodied by the searing, ultimately soulful performance of Krysten Ritter, Jessica Jones was an immediate sensation, giving Marvel a much needed female superhero who was an unapologetic butt-kicker.

Weird & Wonderful Sundance Standout Sorry to Bother You Drops First Trailer

There was a lot to like at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, which was marked by a glut of hugely impressive, high quality films (but not a ton of big time deals, as we’ve been used to in the past). One of the fest’s standouts, Boots Riley‘s truly singular Sorry to Bother You, was snatched up by the Annapurna Pictures, and now they’ve released the first trailer. This glimpse at Riley’s audacious film gives you a snapshot of why Sorry to Bother You left crowds in Park City so giddy.

We’re very excited about Captain Marvel, the first female-led movie in the MCU. Starring Brie Larson as the titular superhero (also known as Carol Danvers), filming is already underway on what will be one of next year’s most eagerly anticipated films. Now we know a little bit more about the film’s inspirations, thanks to Marvel Studios’ leading light, Kevin Feige, and how Danvers, who has not been present in any of the previous dust-ups involving the Avengers thus far,

Black Panther and A Wrinkle in Time Dominate the Box Office

If you’ve gone to see Black Panther or A Wrinkle in Time (or, likely both), you’re a part of history unfolding at the box office. With $41 million this weekend, Black Panther held as the #1 movie in America, and A Wrinkle in Time was a close #2 at $33 million. This weekend pushed Black Panther over $1 billion worldwide, leapfrogging Rogue One and landing at #21 of all time box office sales.

John Krasinski Writes New Rules for Horror with A Quiet Place At SXSW

Jim Halpert on The Office was always great at pranks, but none of them were quite this chilling. Mostly known for his comedic roles, John Krasinski directed his first horror film, and it’s one of an early hit out of SXSW. A Quiet Place has an intriguing premise and the trailers have been terrifying us for months. Audience members said they were thoroughly satisfied by the story and it was really,

Watch how They Created Electrified Thor, Hulk, the Giant Wolf & More in Stellar Thor: Ragnarok VFX Reel

The Framestore has done it again. The incredible VFX shop has released a new behind-the-scenes reel on how they did their wizardry work on Thor: Ragnarok, and it’s an immensely impressive feat of body-snatching.

What we mean to say is that for a bunch of scenes, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Hera (Cate Blanchett) needed to be doubled, and not by stunt performers, but by their digital doppelgängers.

Framestore has done a lot of work with Marvel in the past,

New Avengers: Infinity War Photos Hint at Miraculous Recoveries & an All-Powerful Villain

How the Pacific Rim: Uprising Director Lured Star John Boyega to Star in the Sequel

We’ve already written one story today about how scheduling conflicts can vastly change a film. In the case of Pacific Rim: Uprising, the scheduling conflict was huge—Charlie Hunnam, the star from Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 Pacific Rim‘s—was no longer able to reprise his role in the sequel. In a great interview with i09director Steven DeKnight discussed how they turned this possible disaster into a major win by eventually casting John Boyega.
