Tom Hardy & Ridley Scott Team up for FX’s Taboo

Tom Hardy came up with the story for Taboo with his father, Chips. Yup, you’re already intrigued, and also a bit touched. And you're well aware Hardy doesn't really make bad career decisions, so anything he's involved in warrants a good long look.

In Taboo, Hardy plays a rogue adventurer named James Keziah Delaney, who spends a decade swashbuckling around Africa in the early 19th century. He finally returns to London in 1814 and discovers he’s been left a strange legacy (and a huge shipping empire!) by his murdered father.

Designated Survivor Premieres on ABC

The conceit for Designated Survivor is a chilling one, especially in a time of ambient anxiety over of terrorism. A low-level cabinet member named Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) is whiling away the 90 minutes or so while the president is giving his State of the Union Address in a secure location, serving as the country's "designated survivor." In the unlikely event that something happens during the State of the Union and, say,

Luke Cage & the Appeal of Old-School Gravitas

We already have our calendars marked to binge watch the latest Marvel installment Luke Cage when it premieres next weekend. Luckily, Netflix knew we were having trouble waiting and released a new featurette with cast and crew interviews.

In a market saturated with CGI battles, intergalactic foes, or criminally insane madmen, Luke Cage appears to be more understated, giving us a street-level view of the good, the bad and the ugly.

Emmys Honor Diversity, Game of Thrones Makes History & More

The night was a boon for diversity, spreading the Emmy wealth among a wide variety of networks, and, for politically charged jokes. In sum, it was one of the most interesting Emmys in recent memory.

Jimmy Kimmel brought an easy, relaxed charm to the proceedings, even managing to wring laughter out of a Jeb Bush cameo. Kimmel joked that anyone without a dragon or a white Bronco in their show should probably just leave—the joke wasn’t just funny,

HBO Delivers Most Sensational Westworld Trailer yet

We open on Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) waking up, a beautiful young woman living out west, presumably, possibly in the 19th century. And then we hear familiar voice: “Dreams mean everything. They’re the stories we tell ourselves. Of what could be. Who we could become.” So says Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins), the brilliant, ruthless creative director of Westworld, where Dolores has actually woken up. From what we’ve gleaned from previous trailers (including this mature version) and HBO press releases,
