Here’s What the Star Trek: Discovery Theme Song Sounds Like
CBS has released a sneak peak of the Star Trek: Discovery theme song ahead of the series’ premiere. The video features composer Jeff Russo, whose music you’ve heard on Legion and Fargo, leading the orchestra through his composition. We last spoke with Russo when Legion premiered to talk about his work on the new series, and it’s clear he hasn’t slowed down since.

Thanks to a touch of dragon’s fire, the Army of the Dead has breached the wall at Eastwatch. Jon Snow, er, Aegon Targaryen, thinks he has united Westeros to repel their invasion. Meanwhile, he is having carnal relations with Daenerys, who also happens to be his aunt, and the two each have a rightful claim to the Iron Throne.
But while one incestuous relationship blossoms, another withers when Jamie Lanaster peels himself from his sister Queen Cersei’s bed.
Creative Arts Emmy Awards: SNL, Stranger Things & Westworld win big
The Creative Arts Emmy Awards, spread over two nights, bestowed a bevy of awards to perennial powerhouse HBO (19!), but also had a lot of love for Netflix (16) and NBC (9) for what was another very strong year on the small screen. It shouldn’t be surprising that NBC’s Saturday Night Live was a big winner, with five awards, thanks to a ton of attention to show’s lampooning of the 2016 presidential election and standout,
The Deuce Costume Designer on Dressing the Pimps & Working Girls of 1970s Times Square
When it came to crafting an authentic look for the Times Square hustlers at the center of HBO’s birth-of-pornography series The Deuce (debuting Sunday), costume designer Anna Terrazas enjoyed an invaluable resource in the person of show co-creator George Pelecanos. Long before he teamed with David Simon (The Wire) to produce this 1971 period piece, Pelecanos sold shoes. “George used to work in a shoe store in the seventies,
Here’s How They Made That Disgusting Greyscale Surgery Scene on Game of Thrones
Poor Jorah Mormont. The long suffering son of Lord Commander Jeor Mormont (the latter died believing his son was a failure and traitor to the family name) lived in exile in Essos, eventually finding himself commissioned to spy on Daenerys Targaryen. Initially pretending to be her advisor, Jorahn eventually fell in love with Dany, and believed her to be the best possible ruler of Westeros. Unfortunately for Jorah, Dany found out he had been sent to spy on her,
Game of Thrones VFX Reel Reveals how They Built the Battle Beyond the Wall
While the chatter from the super kinetic seventh season of Game of Thrones begins to fade, some of the key folks who helped bring the season to life are showing off their work. Perhaps the most technically ambitious season yet, including massive set pieces, a lot of digital work, and the show’s usual array of incredible locations mixed with stage and green screen work, season 7 brought out the best from some of the most highly respected below-the-line creatives in the industry.
True Detective Season 3 is Happening
HBO has made it official, folks: True Detective season 3 is happening, and it’s bringing in a bunch of serious artists to right the ship after a rocky season 2. Creator/showrunner Nic Pizzolatto has joined forces with the great David Milch (Deadwood, Luck) and Oscar-winning Moonlight actor Mahershala Ali for a season set in the Ozarks. Now, word is that another piece of the puzzle has been added;
Game of Thrones: Watch 1st Episode of HBO’s 7-Part Behind-the-Scenes Series Now
With the end of every season of Game of Thrones comes your own, long winter. It’s always sad saying goodbye to the drama queens and kings of Westeros, especially this season, with the end so near (and yet, the final season so far, far away).
HBO feels your pain (and enjoys your ratings), so they’ve prepared a 7-part behind-the-scenes series, diving into the nitty gritty details on what it took to make season 7.
A Computer Program has Begun Writing Final Game of Thrones Book “The Winds of Winter”
Game of Thrones fans were once installed in two very distinct houses; those who had read George R. R. Martin’s books and those who hadn’t. Then, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’s juggernaut show caught up to, and surpassed, Martin’s books, uniting those houses after a years-long semi-bitter feud. While Game of Thrones spent season 7 rushing towards the Great War with the Night King and his army of the dead, Martin has been (as he has been for a while now) plugging away on the final book in his epic series,
Super Popular (and Creepy) Horror Podcast Lore Adapted as Anthology Series for Amazon
We often forget that our most enduring myths, from vampires to werewolves, from changelings to possessed dolls, originated from actual occurrences in real life. This is the premise behind the wildly popular podcast “Lore,” launched in March 2015 by Aaron Mahnke. “Lore” quickly become a critical hit, ending up on “must listen” and “best of” lists, including from Entertainment Weekly and Apple.
Of course Amazon’s new horror anthology series,
Marvel’s The Punisher Releases new Teaser, Episode Titles
Jon Bernthal’s tortured Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher, was an instant fan favorite when he appeared on Daredevil. Now, as we prepare for The Punisher’s stand-alone Netflix series, we’re learning a bit more about what to expect, including word that another Marvel hero will be heavily involved.
ComicBookMovie.com reports that Marvel’s SVP of Creator and Content Development, C.B. Cebulski, teased that another Marvel hero would be appearing in the series,
Game of Thrones: Dissecting Cersei’s Turn to The Golden Company
It would probably take the Lord of Light to show us the way through all our questions after Sunday’s Game of Thrones season 7 finale, “The Dragon and the Wolf.” Some of these are small bore questions, in which the fate of Westeros doesn’t hinge (like where did Bronn and Podrick disappear to), while others are, well, rather huge. It’s funny, while we were putting together this list of questions,
Game of Thrones Questions to Ponder During the Long Winter Before Season 8
After last night’s season finale, we are left with many questions. For better or for worse, we have time to mull these over while the army of the dead marches closer—the 8th and final season might not air until 2019.

Emmy-Nominated VFX Designer on Creating Terrible Worlds in The Man in the High Castle
Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle portrays a comprehensive and convincing alternate reality in which the Nazi Reich was victorious in World War II. It’s a disturbing world that fortunately never was, but the show is a hearty visual feast that dives unrestrained into the terror. Visual effects supervisor Lawson Deming guided his team to build entire cityscapes outside Hitler’s window, reimagines where technology would lead in an America controlled by the Nazi Reich,
The Man in the High Castle‘s Emmy-Nominated Production Designer on Building a Nightmare America
Phillip K. Dick’s 1962 novel Man in the High Castle imagined the horrors of living in an America where the Allies were defeated in World War II. The series follows Juliana Crain (Alexa Davalos) who refuses to accept the terrible outcome and believes that things could be another way. Production Designer Drew Boughton has received two Emmy nominations for his harrowing interpretation of a world in which Nazi Germany has seized most of the United States while Imperial Japan controls the west coast.
Alliances Forged & Broken: Game of Thrones Finale’s Stunning Reversals, by the Photo
We went deep with our recap of Game of Thrones season 7 finale “The Dragon and the Wolf.” So much happened during the 81-minutes of action, the longest episode in the show’s history, that it required our longest recap by far. While we all wrap our heads around the finale’s many implications, we thought we’d do so via photograph—HBO has released a bunch of stills from the episode, and they speak to some of the show’s tensest moments,
Game of Thrones Finale Recap: “The Dragon and the Wolf”
It happened. You know what it was. It was the thing many fans have been waiting for, even after it was clearly going to be between an aunt and her nephew. Game of Thrones season 7 finale, “The Dragon and the Wolf,” was about many things, but the title makes clear that it was at the very heart of the proceedings. Jon Snow, who never really was a Snow (the surname given to northern bastards) and Daenerys Targaryen have become a thing.

Is Taylor Swift’s New Song About Arya Stark?
Is Taylor Swift’s new song “Look What You Made Me Do” about Game of Thrones‘ Arya Stark? You can give the song a listen here, and parse the lyrics for yourself. Or, you can enjoy Entertainment Weekly‘s breakdown right here, which is offers a fairly convincing reading of these lyrics being about Arya Stark, and her long journey from young girl on the run to the cold blooded revenge artist she’s become.
Netflix Releases Black Mirror Season 4 Teaser, Cast & Episode Info
One of the most daring shows on television is returning for its fourth season, the techno-paranoia mind-blower Black Mirror. When we interviewed Black Mirror creator Charlie Booker and executive producer Annabel Jones, the latter told us that the series’ one-and-done approach (each episode is a stand-alone universe unto itself) was pure “lunacy,” but added that by doing each episode as a one-off 50-minute film, “we’re able to take an idea and blow it up within that one episode and not have to worry about creating an arc that sustains for multiple seasons…it’s very liberating.
