Venom is all of us in This Deleted Scene
Sony’s Venom might have been one of the year’s surprise hits (a surprise only in how well it’s done overseas, with folks in China absolutely devouring the film), but there are plenty of fairly obvious reasons why people flocked to the theater to catch Spider-Man’s sometime nemesis, sometime collaborator on the big screen. One is you’ve got one of Marvel’s most disgustingly intriguing anti-heroes in Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy)’s reporter-turned-alien-symbiote,
Eddie Brock Knows about Spider-Man in Venom
Spider-Man is gone, but not forgotten in Venom. Peter Parker and Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) have some serious history, but the teenage web-slinging superhero did not appear in the Symbiote film. The two characters did not cut all ties, however. They’re still a part of the MCU and can’t escape their connection. Producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach gave Collider a cheat sheet for spotting the Spider-Man mentions in Venom.
Watch Venom‘s Director Break Down a Fight Scene
Venom director Ruben Fleischer joined Vanity Fair to break down one of the film’s gooey, gruesome fight sequences. In this particular scene, we see Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy), now sharing his body and mind with the symbiote Venom, take on a team of Life Foundation soldiers, the henchmen of the film’s villain Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed). Fleischer gives us some intriguing insight into how this propulsive scene was created,
VFX Artists Explain How They Made Venom Marvel’s Freakiest Character
For a superhero movie, Venom boasts an unusually strong cast of heavy hitters including Tom Hardy in the title role along with Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed. But in this Marvel Comics-based story, it’s the visual effects that drive the spectacle by transforming Hardy’s ordinary human reporter Eddie Brock into a tentacle-sprouting “symbiote” freak. To learn more about CGI-powered monster mutations, The Credits checked in with the VFX company DNEG in London,
Venom Unleashes Its Full Potential in New Clip
A new Venom clip finally reveals the full transformation from Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) into his symbiote alter ego. The two seem to work in perfect tandem, but once the symbiote takes over, it’s all-consuming. We also finally get to see how Venom moves in full action mode and a taste of what exactly they’re capable of.
Earlier today we got almost a full body glimpse at Venom. He’s massive and muscly,
New Venom Images Hint at Eddie Brock’s Brutal Metamorphosis
In a little over a week, Eddie Brock’s transformation into one of Marvel’s wildest antiheroes will be arriving on the big screen. Director Ruben Fleischer and star Tom Hardy’s Venom may not be the first time we’ve seen Eddie Brock’s metamorphosis into the brutally powerful alien symbiote on screen—Topher Grace played Brock/Venom in Spider-Man 3. That was way back in 2007, and Grace’s Venom was but one of the villains in the film (Sandman was the other),
Eddie Brock Probes Dr. Drake About the Life Foundation’s Ethics in First Venom Clip
As we wrote earlier today, IGN went on the set of Venom to find out the answers to some of our most burning questions. How did the VFX team transform Tom Hardy into the tentacled creature? How do the symbiotes get to our planet? And possibly most interestingly, what is the deal with the Life Foundation? Turns out, the saintly scientists aren’t what they seem. They are the culprits behind harvesting alien life forms and are covering up some more sinister activities.
Venom Has a New Explanation for How the Symbiotes Come to Earth
When the first trailer for Venom landed, we were curious about the way in which Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) would come into contact with the symbiote that transforms him into a superhuman. Peter Parker was the main culprit for bringing the alien lifeform to Earth, but Spider-Man is absent from this iteration. IGN went straight to the source to ask VFX supervisor Paul Franklin what is up with the intergalactic goo.
Being Venom is Brutal, But Somebody’s Gotta Do It
Things in Eddie Brock’s (Tom Hardy) world have gotten completely out of control. Although the sentient tar like substance that has attached itself to Eddie’s body is called a symbiote, a new trailer for Venom makes it clear that we’re dealing with a parasite. It does what it wants, when it wants, and Eddie really has no say over the matter.
The latest look at Venom completely lifts the veil on the relationship between symbiote and host.
Watch Tom Hardy Become Venom in the Film’s First Official Trailer
The last peek we got at Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy), he was only just starting his transformation into one of Marvel’s most twisted, iconic anti-heroes, Venom. The first teaser for Venom gave us a a glimpse of what was troubling Brock, beginning with a breakup with his girlfriend, followed by losing someone close to him, and then a mysterious but major accident with an alien craft. It was this last bit that would turn out to be the most momentous—in the accident,
Is Woody Harrelson Playing Carnage in Venom?
We’ve known that Woody Harrleson was going to be in Ruben Fleischer’s Venom since last December, when word was the busy, beloved actor (he’s appearing in Ron Howard’s Solo: A Star Wars Story next) would be playing some kind of henchmen. The film is centered on Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock, who becomes the host of an alien symbiote that imbues him with potent, monstrous powers. Venom has been one of Spider-Man’s chief antagonists in the comics,
Eddie Brock Begins His Transformation in First Venom Teaser
Eddie Brock is going through some major changes in the first Venom trailer. There’s the breakup with his girlfriend, losing someone close to him, a mysterious major accident with an alien craft. Oh, and he’s also recently merged with a Symbiote that takes over his body giving him super powers and could possibly have evil intentions.
If you were hoping to see the big reveal of Tom Hardy’s motion capture performance as Venom,
Woody Harrelson Joins the Cast of Venom
Woody Harrelson has secured a role in the upcoming Venom movie. Harrelson, who seems to have the superhuman ability to be on multiple sets at once, is reported to have joined the cast. Sources told Variety that details about the role are sparse, but it is likely to be a henchmen type character.
Actor Andy Serkis, a pioneer of motion capture performance, spilled the beans earlier this year that Tom Hardy would be utilizing the technology in Venom’s title role.
Tom Hardy’s Venom Performance Will Utilize Motion Capture Technology
Andy Serkis has become the most famous face of actors who utilize motion capture. A pioneer of the art form, Serkis has created some of the most memorable characters in film, from Gollum in the Lord of the Ring series to his incredible performance as Caesar in the Planet of the Apes trilogy. The incredibly talented actor has shone a light on the tremendous results that can come from matching inspired casting with the technology.
Here’s the First set Photo From Sony’s Venom
We’re still surprised, and excited, that Sony is making a film for Eddie Brock, aka the antihero Venom, one of Marvel’s most inspired creations. Venom has always been both a beloved villain and a bit of a hard sell as a character that could support his own stand-alone film, considering what he’s made of. Granted, Brock/Venom’s journey via the pages of Marvel comics has seen him go from being an outright villain to an antihero, a complicated creature with human and alien components.
Jenny Slate in Talks for Sony’s Venom
What would Marcel the Shell say? Jenny Slate’s career is exploding and she is about to pivot into the biggest genre in the business. The standup comedienne turned actress is reportedly in talks to join Venom.
Variety reports that Slate is expected to play a scientist, but her role has not yet been announced. Tom Hardy is a lock to play the title role of the Spider-Man spinoff. Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed are the only other cast members to have been announced.
Michelle Williams Joining Venom to Star Opposite Tom Hardy
This could be the most surprising casting announcement of the year. Variety reports that four-time Oscar-nominee Michelle Williams is joining Tom Hardy in Ruben Fleischer’s Venom, about Spider-Man’s most fearsome enemy of all time, the titular symbiote infused with both alien and Spider-Man’s powers that first graced the pages of the comics in 1988, and made his first big-screen appearance in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, embodied by Topher Grace.
Spider-Man: Homecoming, Venom & Silver and Black Will Coexist
When we wrote that Sony had made some major moves with their Spider-Man spinoffs, Venom (casting Tom Hardy) and Silver and Black (nabbing director Gina Prince-Bythewood), we were always hoping that they’d eventually intersect with Spider-Man. Now, Spider-Man: Homecoming producer Amy Pascal has said that all three of the films will exist in the same world, leaving the possibility open that Tom Holland’s Spidey could pop up in the spinoffs.
