Steven Spielberg’s The BFG Releases First Teaser
"Never get out of bed. Never go to the window. Never look behind the curtain." But, of course, this is exactly what Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) does, earning her first sight of the BFG (the Big Friendly Giant, played by the great Mark Rylance, who nearly stole Bridge of Spies, Steven Spielberg‘s last film, right out from under Tom Hanks). This first teaser of Spielberg's adaptation of Roald Dahl‘s children’s classic looks very promising.
Barnhill is a newcomer,
Watch the new Captain America: Civil War Featurette
Curious why directors Anthony and Joe Russo and Marvel honcho Kevin Feige decided to bring the Black Panther into Captain America: Civil War? Or how about why all the turmoil started between former friends Cap (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.)? And how does the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) factor into all of this? In this new featurette, originally reported and created by Entertainment Weekly and now released by Marvel Entertainment,
Watch the “Secret” Star Wars: The Force Awaknes TV Spot
Gang, the film comes out next Friday, so at this point there can only be so many more of these TV spots and teasers, right? It's been said that a full six minutes of the film has been released when you add up all the bits from every trailer, teaser, and TV spot thus far. The below teaser has just enough new stuff to keep you primed and ready to go for the release on December 18,
The Big Short & the Frenzy of Must-See Films in December
As the year comes to a close, there's a frenzy of films coming out in the next few weeks that are required viewing. I caught a screening last week of Alejandro González Iñárritu's The Revenant (we'll be discussing the film in more detail soon), a brutal, simultaneously gorgeous film that I haven't been able to totally shake since. In a way, the outrageous commitment the film required (you can read all about the production process here) reminded me of what it took for director Tom McCarthy and his co-writer Josh Singer to pull off
Jennifer Lawrence Brings the Joy, Natalie Portman Brings the Jane
Two distinctinly different clips to share with you this morning. The first, is a short Joy teaser released by 20th Century Fox, the Jennifer Lawrence starring, David O. Russell directed film based on the life of Joy Mangano, the inventor of the Miracle Mop. This is the first time Russell has focused his film solely on a female protagonist (he's had strong women in nearly all his film, however), and Lawrence's performance is already earning raves.
Watch This New Star Wars: The Force Awakens “Legacy” Featurette
Wow, the notion that the "final" trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens aired during the Monday Night Football game on October 19 is totally laughable now, right? But we're not complaining. Check out this new featurette for The Force Awakens that premiered at Comic-Con Brazil, and we'll meet you below for a few thoughts.
- Right off the bat, that shot of the very real Millennium Falcon is pretty incredible,
Does the new Game of Thrones Teaser Hint at Jon Snow’s Return?
(If you're not caught up on GOT's season five, spoiler alert). Few television shows in history have maybe killed off a main character and received this much scrutiny, doubt, rumor mongering and obsession. We're talking about Game of Thrones' Jon Snow (Kit Harington) of course, who was stabbed (repeatedly) by his fellow Night's Watchmen at the end of last season and whose potential death exploded the internet.
Watch the Sisters: The Farce Awakens Hilarious Star Wras Spoof Trailer
You've got to love this. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, the stars of the upcoming Sisters, get in on the Star Wars: The Force Awakens insanity with this loving, hilarious send-up of the film's behind-the-scenes trailer they dropped at this past summer's Comic-Con. Watch them both below to get the full impact of how ingenious Sisters: The Farce Awakens is, especially the business at 20 seconds in of the computer generated model needed…to simulate a man being booted in the groin.
Watch the Thrilling New Batman v Superman Trailer
We shared with you the dark, twisted little 40-second teaser on Monday, and now here's the first official Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer. It's surprisingly funny and totally insanse (in a good way). As always, we'll share the trailer with you first so you can take it all in, then we'll go through it and discuss some of the finer points. Welcome back to Gotham, folks—you're in for a wild ride.
Kylo Ren Featured in Dark New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Teaser
The latest Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser features the film's main villain (or at least the one we've seen the most of), Kylo Ren, in without a doubt the darkest teaser yet. There's a few new shots, some new dialogue, and a link between the still unseen Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis, heard here in voice over) and Adam Driver's Ren. Have a watch, then we'll hit a few of the new shots below:
- First,
The First Captain America: Civil War Trailer is a Superhero Brawl
The first trailer for Captain America: Civil War debuted during Jimmy Kimmel last night (in the midst of his Star Wars week, giving Disney a nice one-two marketing punch) and it begins exactly where the teaser during Ant-Man's credit sequence left us, with Cap (Chris Evans) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) interrogating the Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). Only it quickly escalates into a colossal clash between superheroes in what looks to continue Captain America's hold as the most emotional of Marvel's many running franchises.
New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Clip: “You Can’t Out Run Them”
In the first official Star Wars: The Force Awakens clip, we see Finn (John Boyega), Rey (Daisy Ridley) and BB-8 running (and rolling) from an attack by First Order TIE Fighters. It's a brief but telling sequence, giving us the rogue Stormtrooper Finn shouting "We can't out run them!" to a resourceful, defiant Rey. It showcases both our heroine's pluck and our hero's first-hand knowledge of just how potent and relentless his former comrades are.
This New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Clip Shows Wild Stormtroopers Salute
As we said last week, there is simply no telling how many new teasers will be released for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. While we've come to expect to be surprised by the seemingly endless run of new images from the film, this latest teaser includes a totally wild, wait-did-I-really-see-that moment—we'll let you watch before we discuss. It happens at the 22 second mark.
Yeah, that
New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Puts Spotlight on Finn
So obviously no one has any idea how many more Star Wars: The Force Awakens teasers there are going to be. We thought the "final trailer" that aired during the Monday Night Football game between the Eagles and the Giants was the last new footage we'd see, and then had to keep updating you with another unexpected teaser and new footage, our surprise increasingly feeling foolish. So while the latest teaser's existence isn't surprising in itself,
The Huntsman: Winter’s War New Trailer Puts Emily Blunt on a Polar Bear
Following the success of director Rupert Sanders' Snow White and the Huntsman, starring Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth in the title roles, some of the mian players are back for the sequel The Huntsman Winter's War. Hemsworth and Charlize Theron return to their roles as the noble Huntsman and the Evil Queen Ravenna respectively, while new cast members include Emily Blunt as Freya, the Ice Queen and Ravenna's little sister, and Jessica Chastain as Sara, the Warrior who also appears to be the Huntsman paramour and a force for good.
The new Zoolander 2 Trailer is Absurd, Awesome
With the second trailer fleshing out more ludicrous plot details, Zoolander 2 just became our most anticipated comedy for 2016. Washed up and left behind by the fashion world, Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) and Hansel (Owen Wilson) are plunged into the Bond-ian realm of international espionage when the world's most beautiful people (Justin Bieber, Usher, etc.) are murdered, each captured in their last moments (in Bieber's case, captured by himself in a deathbed selfie) brandishing Zoolander's trademark look,
Check out the Bonkers Trailer for Gods of Egypt
The ambitious director Alex Proyas (Dark City, I, Robot, Knowing) has assembled quite the cast for his epic, insane-looking Gods of Egypt. There's something wonderfully refreshing about what looks to be a totally gonzo approach to telling the story of Egyptian gods going deity-y-deity in a nation-shaking battle. Starring Gerard Butler(300) as the evil god Set versus Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones) as the falcon-headed god Horus, the first trailer for
The Divergent Series: Allegiant Trailer Comes Out Swinging
A new trailer for The Divergent Series: Allegiant titled “The Truth Lies Beyond” is here and it packs quite a punch. Allegiant will be the third film adaptation of Veronica Roth’s best selling science fiction young adult novel series, with this film being part one of last book in the trilogy, in the tradition of Mockingjay. Allegiant picks up where Insurgent left off –
Disney Channel Promo Includes New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Footage
Naturally the Disney Channel is going to have access to some never-before-seen footage from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and with this new promo they don't disappoint. The new promo comes complete with some explanatory narration, at one point describing BB-8 as a “mysterious droid,” meaning Rey (Daisy Ridley) must come into contact with BB-8 (like Luke did with R2D2), rather than start the film with BB-8 at her side. These links between Rey and the Skywalker clan keep increasing,
New The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 TV Spot
“Today, we will watch more than a mere spectacle,” says President Coin (Julianne Moore) to a huge crowd of cheering rebels in this new TV spot. It’s not the only chills inducing dialogue in the new spot, which also includes a moment of major peril for Peeta (Josh Hutcherson).
As you know by now, Mockingjay – Part 2 comes out this Friday, November 20. As the final installment in the epic franchise,
