This New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Clip Shows Wild Stormtroopers Salute

As we said last week, there is simply no telling how many new teasers will be released for Star Wars: The Force AwakensWhile we've come to expect to be surprised by the seemingly endless run of new images from the film, this latest teaser includes a totally wild, wait-did-I-really-see-that moment—we'll let you watch before we discuss. It happens at the 22 second mark.

Yeah, that definitely looks like those Stormtroopers are giving a Nazi-like salute, right? The Empire was always associated with both the Nazis and fascism in general—from the aesthetics of their look to the brutality and cruelty of their reign, there was always more than a whiff of the connection, especially in the original trilogy. But this is really the first time we've seen such an overt connection, leading us to wonder if The First Order, which is the iteration the Empire has taken now 30 years after the end of Return of the Jedi, is an even more malignant power.

It's another startling addition to the growing canon of Force Awakens footage, a brief, powerful image that connects the bad guys in th eStar Wars universe to our own.
