A Major Kylo Ren Confrontation is Teased in New Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Clip

Okay, you seriously might want to forgo any and all remaining Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker promo materials going forward. We’ve definitely reached the point where we’ve seen quite a lot already. Disney has been flooding the zone in the past few weeks as we approach The Rise of Skywalker‘s December 20 release date. Yet these folks know what they’re doing, so you’ve got to believe that while they seem to be showing us a lot, they’re really only giving us morsels. There’s also a decent chance that not everything we’ve been seeing will even be in the film we all go watch in 7 or so days. Regardless, if you don’t want to know a single thing more about the film, definitely go ahead and stop reading.

Still here? Okay, so there’s a brand new clip—yes, an actual clip from the movie—on Star Wars official Facebook page. The clip features Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and a certain back-from-the-dead Emperor. That’s right, it’s Ren and Palpatine together at last, despite the fact that the last time we saw Palpatine, he was getting tossed into a Death Star 2 shaft by Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi. Emperor Palpatine is back, somehow, and this clip confirms he and Kylo Ren will actually come face to face. We think.

The clip is cleverly ambiguous, actually. We see Ren land on a storm-lashed world, we watch him enter an incredibly forlorn temple, and we hear—as does Ren—Palpatine’s voice. The rest you’ll have to watch for yourself, it’s too potent a reveal to spoil. Again, think hard about whether you really want to watch this clip before you do so.
