Stormtroopers Fly in New Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Clip

Stormtroopers fly now. Seriously.

Okay, we knew there would be a flurry of TV spots and a few new photos before Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters in less than a month, but an actual clip from the film? Yeah, this is surprising. If you’re of the mind that you know all you need to before seeing the 9th and final film in the Skywalker Saga, we get that. Don’t watch this clip (which includes, yes, a flying Stormtrooper). Go into the theater with only the knowledge of the past 8 films in the three trilogies and nothing more. We’d totally get that.

Still here? Okay, then enjoy this clip of our heroes—the whole bunch of them—trying to evade a quartet of Stormtroopers and contending with the fact that said Stormtroopers now come with jet packs. Rey (Daisy Ridley), Poe (Oscar Isaac), Chewie (Joonas Suotamo), Finn (John Boyega), C-3P0 (Anthony Daniels), BB-8 and D-O are deemed “fugitives” by their First Order enemies. Then they’re tracked across a desert planet by those aforementioned jet pack-wearing Stormtroopers in a brief but very fun action set piece.

Check out the clip here. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20, 2019.
