Zombieland: Double Tap Early Reactions Hype Hilarious Return to Zombie-Killing Form

We were pretty excited when we heard the gang is back for some fresh, and most importantly funny, zombie-killing antics. We were especially tickled when the first trailer revealed that our favorite zombie-slayers have been spending their downtime at the White House. Director Ruben Fleischer returns, along with his core cast of Emma Stone as Wichita, Abigail Breslin as Little Rock, Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee, and Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus in Zombieland: Double Tap. Now that the film has had its’ premiere, the first reactions have surfaced online.

It’s been a whopping ten years since Fleischer and his able cast slew our hearts in 2009’s Zombieland. Double Tap has tasked our heroes with much toucher zombies. As we wrote when the trailer was released, one of the joys of the original was how Harrelson’s Tallahassee taught his young charges the joys of killing zombies—they’re slow, dumb, essentially target practice. In Double Tap, however, the zombies have evolved. Fleischer told Entertainment Weekly that the crew will be facing off against “the T-800 zombies, that are stronger, faster, harder to kill.”

So about those reactions—so far, so good. It seems the humor is not only still here but ramped up. Plus you’ve got new characters, like Zoey Deutch’s Madison, who joins the crew and immediately stirs up feelings in Columbus, and Rosario Dawson’s Nevada, who seems to be even tougher than Tallahassee, if not tougher. There’s also Luke Wilson and Thomas Middleditch, who play bizarro doppelgangers of Tallahassee and Columbus.

Here are some of the early reactions. Zombieland: Double Tap hits theaters on October 18.
