The Full Cast for Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is Bonkers Good

The last glance we got of Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance was this gorgeous trailer. We were enthused, to put it mildly. It was taking us back to a cult classic from the early 80s in a way we didn’t even realize we were nostalgic for until we saw it. As we wrote at the time, for those of us who grew up loving the creations of Jim Henson, the Age of Resistance trailer felt like a clarion call to return to childhood, only with today’s technology infusing the action with added visual splendor. Now Netflix has released the full cast, and our enthusiasm has skyrocketed. We already knew that this return to the world that Jim Henson and Frank Oz created in their classic 1982 film The Dark Crystal had three great leads—Rian (Taron Egerton), Deet (Nathalie Emmanuel), and Brea (Anya Taylor-Joy). Age of Resistance is going to be a prequel to Henson and Oz’s film, following our three Gelfings as they try to make their way through Thra, which is controlled by the evil Skeksis.

We also knew that there were a bunch of other great folks involved—Helena Bonham-Carter, Mark Harris, Jason Issacs, Simon Pegg, Andy Samberg, Keegan-Michael Key, Eddie Izzard, Natalie Dormer, Theo James, Toby Jones, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. That right there would be a dream cast for just about anybody. Now we know who makes up the rest of the cast, and honestly, this cast might rival any other show out there right now.

Seriously, every one of these people is great. Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) is playing The Collector, Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) will be playing Maudra Fara, Benedict Wong (Avengers: Endgame) is the General, and Sigourney Weaver (!!) is the Myth-Speaker, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) will play Naia, and Dave Goelz is Baffi, This cast, folks!

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is a 10-episode series, and was rendered with a near-perfect blend of old school practical effects and today’s modern digital technology. Director and executive producer Louis Leterrier has assembled a truly fantastic cast for what could be another major hit for Netflix.

Here’s that trailer again:
