Uncovering the Avengers: Endgame Easter Eggs, Call Backs & More

Spoiler warning, folks!

We’ve already discussed the meaning of that secret sound that played after the Avengers: Endgame credits. We’ve parsed the epic ending, including those shocking reveals late in the battle with Thanos. We mourned the characters we lost, especially the one who dies a little more than halfway through the filmAvengers: Endgame is such a global phenomenon even folks who despise superhero movies are talking about. This movie is that big, and it was, frankly, that satisfying of a filmgoing experience. Yet there’s still so much packed into this film that we haven’t had a chance to discuss. Luckily for us (and you), ScreenRant has crafted a video montage worthy of Endgame itself, identifying 30 things you missed in the film.

Nobody is better at this kind of Easter Egg hunt via video than ScreenRant. If you’ve got a little more than 15-minutes spare, this video will speed you through a ton of Endgame‘s hidden secrets, callbacks, cameos, and potential hints about Marvel’s Phase 4. Curious about the inspiration for Thanos’s humble look when we first meet him a mere 10-minutes into the film? Have you noticed the recurring nod to Star Wars that happens not only in Endgame but throughout the MCU? These are but two of the many reveals. The video clues us into some of the cameos (two of them were by actors from NBC’s Community), Captain Marvel’s new haircut, and a possibly very revealing aside from Okoye.

About Okoye. When Wakanda’s fiercest warrior not named Black Panther is talking to Natasha Romanoff via hologram, she mentions something potentially significant. In fact, lots of people think Okoye might be giving us a clue to the upcoming Black Panther 2. In the scene, Okoye tells Nat that there’s been huge seismic activity on the ocean floor. Nat wants to know what Okoye plans to do about it, and Okoye says “we do nothing.” There are only so many fires that can be put out all across the globe, and seismic activity beneath the ocean floor isn’t one of them.

Or is it? The speculation here is that what Okoye is actually referring to is the existence of Namor the Sub-Mariner, a water-dwelling Marvel superhero with some longstanding beef with the Wakandans. Even Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson fueled the rumors of Namor having some role to play in Marvel’s Phase 4—he posted a comic book cover fearing the good Doctor and Namor, with a caption that read “Are you Experienced?” And Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has mentioned wanting Namor involved in some future film.

Intrigued yet? There’s a lot more to parse and unpack here. Check out the video for yourself below. Obviously Avengers: Endgame is in theaters everywhere.
