Blake Lively is an Avenging Angel in the Gripping The Rhythm Section Trailer
Director Reed Morano’s is a rising star, and her latest film looks as unnerving and thrilling as her work on The Handmaid’s Tale. The Rhythm Section follows Blake Lively‘s Stephanie Patrick after a horrific accident takes the lives of her entire family. The accident in question is a plane crash, something that everyone fears, 99.9% of people never have to deal with, and one can do nothing about. Unless, of course, you find out the plane crash was no accident, and you’re Stephanie Patrick. In that case, you assume a new identity and you do whatever it takes to track down everyone responsible. Paramount has released a gripping new trailer that almost makes one think of the Bourne series, only with this avenging angel arising not from a nefarious corporation but instead from grief and rage. Jane Bourne, if you must.
Morano’s film, from a script by Mark Burnell (based on his novel of the same name), is a mix of pulse-pounding action and mystery. The surrounding cast is excellent. Jude Law, Sterling K. Brown, Max Casella, and Daniel Mays are all here.
This first trailer really is gangbusters. Lively seems more than up to the challenge of credibly portraying a furious, broken woman hellbent on revenge. In a little under two minutes, the trailer provides you with just enough background and a whole lot of action to make The Rhythm Section a potential must-see come next January.

Blake Lively stars as Stephanie Patrick, an ordinary woman on a path of self-destruction after her family is tragically killed in a plane crash. When Stephanie discovers that the crash was not an accident, she enters a dark, complex world to seek revenge on those responsible and find her own redemption. Based on the novel by Mark Burnell, from director Reed Morano (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) and the producers of the James Bond film series, The Rhythm Section also stars Jude Law and Sterling K. Brown.
