Newest Shazam! Trailer Will Have You Yearning to be a Superhero

This week, Warner Bros. and DC Films unveiled a new trailer for Shazam!, starring Zachary Levi and Asher Angel. Hold on to your capes, and have a look below:

Yeah, we like what we’re seeing here. The hype is real – Twitter was lit with excitement since the trailer was posted online. We here at The Credits have been covering everything Shazam! since the film was announced during Comic-Con in 2017. Directed by David Sandberg, of Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation fame, Shazam!‘s premise is pretty great; the idea is that we all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s case, by shouting out one word – SHAZAM! – this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult superhero with the red suit and seriously potent powers. Disclaimer: don’t do like Billy in the trailer and shout “SHAZAM!” while jumping from a rooftop; I may or may have not tried it already. It doesn’t end well…

The movie is so unlike anything Warner Bros. has released in the past few years in the superhero realm, which makes it all the more enticing. From trying to buy the “finest beer” to shopping around for a macho superhero lair, Shazam! is sure to steal a laugh from all moviegoers this spring, both big and small.

Produced by New Line Cinema, the seventh installment in the DC Extended Universe is written by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke, and also features Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen Jovan Armand, Faithe Herman, Cooper Andrews and Marta Milan and Djimon Hounsou, with Mark Strong from the Kingsman films as the evil Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.

Shazam! flies into theaters on April 5, 2019.
