First Aquaman Reactions Salute Swashbuckling Epic

The best DC movie since The Dark Knight. The second best DC movie (perhaps behind The Dark Knight). On par with Patty Jenkins fantastic Wonder Woman origin story. A swashbuckling epic full of massive emotions and a tidal wave of action. Folks, the first reactions to James Wan‘s Aquaman are in, and they are more or less every shade of enthused. For anyone who was worried that the hugely talented Wan had bitten off more than he could chew, you can breathe a sigh of relief. The reactions cite, among many standout features, the singular look of Atlantis, the charm and gravitas of Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry, the fantastic performance by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the villain Black Manta, a great heroine in Amber Heard’s Mera, the dazzling effects, and the fearlessness with which the entire Aquaman team went for big laughs, big emotions, and big drama. The critics and assorted press who caught the first screening for the film have been filling Twitter with their reactions, and they’re likely going to make you want to see the film on its first night.

As we always do in our reaction and/or review roundup, let’s take a spoiler-free stroll through the Twitter feeds of trusted film folks to give you a decent snapshot of what everyone’s feeling.

Aquaman opens wide on December 21, 2018.
