A Fan Expo Panel Revealed a Surprise Cameo in Ant-Man and the Wasp

It is always fun to spot a familiar face in the Marvel crowd, particularly the reliable Stan Lee appearances. Sometimes a famous voice even slips in unnoticed for months, like in the case of Trevor Noah in Black Panther. However, there are some cameos that are a little more difficult to spot and we might just need an outright confession to ever see them all. Evangeline Lilly and Rodrigo Bastos Diner appeared together at Fan Expo Canada this weekend to promote their book series, The Squickerwonkers. Although the children’s books received high praise from fans, the conversation, of course, crossed over into the MCU and revealed an Ant-Man and the Wasp cameo.

When the panel started accepting fan questions, Lilly was peppered with inquiries about Marvel. Fans directed their questions to the Ant-Man and the Wasp actress but didn’t realize that both members of the panel appeared in the films. Lilly was asked which character she would like to see interact with the Wasp, which she deferred by talking about one of her favorite moments of female solidarity in Infinity War. Then Lilly passed to Bastos Didier who shared his secret.

“If you see Hope van Dyne enter the restaurant and talk to Sonny Burch, you remember that part? I’m the waiter at the restaurant,” Bastos Didier confessed.

“He can’t say anything either or Marvel will come for him too,” Lilly joked.

Lilly was tightlipped about the future of The Wasp, but she did give a shout out to the three stunt women who performed alongside her as. Lilly also boosted fan fever for an all-female Marvel movie by saying she is in. Lilly gushed that she hopes to work with Danai Gurira who played the completely crush-worthy Okoye in Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.

The actress said that the Easter egg bonanza of her days on Lost and the Marvel films inspired her to sprinkle her books with hidden surprises too. “We have laced so much mythology and Easter eggs into these books, no one is ever going to find it all. So, have fun. Happy hunting.”

Check out the full panel with the question that led to the cameo reveal starting around 29:55.
