Tom Cruise Hails Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey: “I Can’t Wait to See It Again”
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has received the Tom Cruise seal of approval.
Cruise is one of the most vocal champions of the importance of the theatrical experience, a movie star who’s also a movie lover. He’s done this time and time again—most recently for Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day, as well as Ryan Coogler’s eventual Oscar-winning Sinners, his Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski’s F1, and Nolan’s last film, Oppenheimer, which he praised alongside Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, advocating seeing both in theaters when they opened simultaneously—the now-iconic Barbenheimer weekend.
Cruise is back in booster mode for Nolan’s latest, The Odyssey, his quite literally epic adaptation of Homer’s world-changing poem. Cruise posted a photo of himself on his Instagram account holding a ticket for The Odyssey in IMAX and wrote this:
“Wow! To Chris, Emma, and ALL of your brilliant cast and crew. Thank you for an amazing night in a movie theater. I can’t wait to see it again!”

The Odyssey sails into theaters today with a massive tailwind of critical acclaim and fans so eager to see the film that they’re crossing both state lines and national borders to catch it in IMAX.
The star-studded cast includes Matt Damon as Odysseus, Anne Hathaway as his wife and queen, Penelope, Tom Holland as their son, Telemachus, Robert Pattinson as the vile suitor, Antinous, Lupita Nyong’o in the dual roles of Helen of Troy and her sister, Clytemnestra, Zendaya as the goddess Athena, Charlize Theron as the goddess Calypso, Samantha Morton as the witch, Circe, John Leguizamo as Odysseus’s swineherd, Eumaeus, Elliot Page as the young soldier, Sinon, Benny Safdie as Agamemnon, and Jon Bernthal as Menelaus.
Meanwhile, Cruise has his own major film coming out this year, Digger, his years-in-the-making collaboration with Alejandro G. Iñárritu. Digger opens nationwide on October 2.
