Marvel Takes a Darker Turn as X-Force Plans to Begin Shooting in October

Marvel Studios has been incredibly busy the past, well, decade, but they’ve been especially busy the past year or so. In a matter of months, the studio released the rococo Thor: Ragnarok and the historic Black Panther, which is setting box office records, to say nothing of their largest film to date, the Russo Brothers’ upcoming Avengers: Infinity War. Marvel seems to be the gift that keeps on giving, but the MCU is not complete without our favorite team of mutants, and we’re having serous X-Men withdrawal. But this could be resolved soon enough as, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox has plans to begin filming X-Forcecentered on the titular band of mutants so nasty, they take on jobs even the X-Men find a little too potentially hazardous.

Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Josh Brolin (Cable) are set to return in the new film, which is going in a much darker direction than the previous X-men: Apocalypse. It sounds like it’ll be more of a piece with Fox’s upcoming film New Mutants, directed by Josh Boone and said to be closer to a horror film than a pure superhero flick. New Mutants is slated be released in February 2019. It’s not like he X-Men franchise has shied away from darker storylines, both the films and the original comics. Yet in X-Force, fans can look forward to the return of some of the MCU’s most iconic and immoral mutants.

Fox isn’t stopping with X-Force. The studio is planning on having three X-men movies in 2019 and another three in 2020. Marvel fans, especially X-Men lovers, can anticipate the return of some of the most beloved characters in the Marvel universe. X-Force is starting to take form and we can’t wait to see what Fox has in store.
