The Lucky Ones Who Saw Black Panther Are Hailing the King

Black Panther premiered last night in Los Angeles, and the reactions are more electric than Wakandan vibranium. Reviews are embargoed until February 6, but the excitement already took over Twitter. Fans and critics alike are gushing over Ryan Coogler’s film. Perhaps USA Today’s Brian Truitt described it best as, “simply awesome.”

Vanessa K. De Luca, Editor in Chief of Essence described feeling overwhelmed. We expect to have the exact same reaction.

Mashable’s Angie Han couldn’t get enough. In the age of binge watching where you can get hooked on something and stay tuned for 8 hours, it’s become difficult to let go of something you love after only two hours. Han said she never wanted to see the magic end.

Collider’s Steven Weintraub compared Erik Killmonger to (Michael B. Jordan) to fan favorite Loki (Tom Hiddleston) of the Thor films. He also praised Coogler’s authentic storytelling and fearless tackling of the tough issues.

The Grio’s Natasha Alford called the film “a masterpiece” and shared the meaningful impact Nakia, Shuri and Okoye would have on young fans.

Clearly the critics were impressed and the reviews are going to be incredible. Some famous faces were in awe, as well. MCU’s Tessa Thompson praised Coogler for his incredible feat. No Thor/Black Panther rivalry here.

We cannot emphasize enough. Get your tickets now, unless it’s already too late. Black Panther hits theaters February 16.
