The Russo Brothers Reveal Members of the Black Order Appearing in Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War is right around the corner with an April 27 release date, and yet there is still so much about the film that we don’t know. The Russo Brothers have been quiet on questions surrounding Hawkeye’s mysterious absence from promotional photos and if Ant-Man will be aiding in the fight against Thanos. They have, however, shared amazing promotional posters, television spots, and hinted that all of our favorite heroes may not survive this film. Now, they have dropped some serious casting news revealing two major characters and who they are played by.

No super villain is complete without his henchmen, but Thanos and his Black Order may be the most malicious villain squad to date. The Russo Brothers have been mum on casting concerning Thanos’ circle of baddies, until now. Joe Russo just confirmed to RadioTimes.com that Emmy-nominated actress Carrie Coon (The Leftovers, Fargo) has been cast as Proxima Midnight, a member of the Black Order. As the only female member of the Black Order, the actor who filled the role would have to hold their own. That definitely describes Coon’s acting ability so we are thrilled at the news.

Anthony Russo also revealed that Irish actor Tom Vaughan-Lawlor will star as Ebony Maw, a powerful telekinetic, and Terry Notary (War of The Planet of the Apes, Kong: Skull Island) has been cast as Cull Obsidian. In the comics, Cull Obsidian is known as Black Dwarf, who has superhuman strength and density similar to the Hulk. We wonder if there’s a showdown between the two in the works.

One thing the Russo Brothers are still keeping quiet on is the identity of the actor who plays Corvus Glaive, the leader of this frightening crew who wields an immortality-granting spear.

With this threatening line-up of villains, the Avengers and co. have a difficult battle ahead in order to save the Universe from Thanos.
