Alien: Covenant Prologue Reveals Fate of Prometheus Survivors

Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) survived to the very end of Prometheus, alone, her entire crew dead and her fate grim. Her only companion was the severed head of David (Michael Fassbender), the treacherous humanoid robot who caused her so much trouble. In the lead up to Ridley Scott’s sequel, Alien: Covenant, we haven’t seen much of Shaw in any of the promotional materials, and her name has only been evoked in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment in one of the film’s trailers where the crew of the Covenant find a security badge with her face and name on it. Now, a new Covenant prologue, “The Crossing,” gives us our first look at what happened after the events in Prometheus.

Having escaped on one of the Creators' ships, Shaw helped put David back together piece-by-piece, and if the humanoid had the semblance of a heart, he seemed to feel it stir for her. “I had never experienced such compassion,” he says. “Definitely not from Mr. Whelan (Pierce Guy), or from any human.” Once patched up, Shaw and David point their ship towards the home of the Creators in an effort to find the source of human life, their original mission, and Shaw is put in cryogenic sleep so she can survive the long journey, leaving David alone to await their arrival.

What happens next is better seen than read:

It doesn't look like the warmest welcome for David and Shaw, and we already know that the Covenant crew finds a living hell once they touch down on their planet—we'll have to wait until May 19 to see how all these storylines converge, and in what form, if any, we see the two lone survivors from the Prometheus disaster.

Alien: Covenant stars Michael Fassbender (now as another android, Walter), Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby, and James Franco.
