Jack Sparrow’s Back in new Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell no Tales Trailer

We’ve got our first look at Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in quite some time, and the guy hardly ages (must be all that rum). Behold the first full trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales , which includes the first footage we’ve seen of Depp. The teaser and the Super Bowl spot conveniently left off the drunken pirate vamp, but now, we’ve got a boatload of Sparrow (pun intended), and, not just in his current form, but a younger version as well.

Sparrow’s always on the run, so to speak, from some ghoulish man or beast. In Dead Men Tell No Tales, his antagonist is Javier Bardem’s Captain Salazar, a ghost captain who wants Sparrow, and every other pirate, dead. Salazar has a major bone to pick with Sparrow (who doesn’t?), and it’ll take everything Sparrow has, including his two new friends played by Brenton Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario, to keep him alive.

If there’s any actor who can inject real pathos and verve into a villain, it’s Javier Bardem, and his presence alone makes Dead Men Tell No Tales an intriguing film. Here’s the film’s synopsis:

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is in theaters May 26.
