First Look at FX’s new Marvel Series Legion

FX and Marvel Entertainment’s upcoming Legion is finally bringing a live-action TV series that’s connected X-Men to the screen. Now we’re getting our first look at the new series, which premieres on FX on February 8

Legion’s creator is Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX’s Fargo, and is based on the eponymous Marvel comic by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz. Legion tells the story of David Haller (Dan Stevens, who’s in the middle of a big year), a troubled young man who may be just a little bit more than human. David was diagnosed as schizophrenic as a child, and has spent the majority of his life being shunted to and from psychiatric hospitals. As an adult, David finds himself once again institutionalized, living a denuded life. David’s contemporaries are fellow patient Lenny (Aubrey Plaza), who has battled alcohol and drug addiction her entire life, and a new patient named Syd (Rachel Keller). The relationship between the three will form the crux of David’s revelations; including eventually escaping from the hospital and finding the world is not at all what he’s imagined.

Also starring Katie Aselton, as David’s sister Amy, Jean Smart as his therapist Melanie Bird, and Jeremie Harris, Amber Midthunder and Bill Irwin as specialists who help open David’s eyes, Legion looks very promising indeed.
