Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur Revealed During NFL Championship Games

If you didn't happen to watch any of the NFL championship games yesterday, you missed this peek at director Guy Ritchie's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. What you'll see in the spot's 45 seconds is the iconic myth of King Arthur and that world conquering sword, Excalibur, given a stylish, dynamic spin by the acclaimed director. Charlie Hunnam stars as Arthur, who, as a boy, has to watch as his father Vortigern (Jude Law) is murdered, and his uncle, seizes the crown. This effectively rips Arthur's birthright from him, forcing him to grow up poor in the city's dangerous alleys. This changes, of course, once Arthur pulls Excalibur from the stone. That fateful sequence puts Arthur squarely on the path of reclaiming his true legacy. 

Starring alongside Hunnam are Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen, with Jude Law and Eric Bana. Ritchie co-wrote the script with Joby Harold and Lionel Wigram.

Warner Bros. Pictures‘ King Arthur: Legend of the Sword arrives in theaters on May 12.
