Sully Trailer Lands Safely: Tom Hanks is Captain Sullenberger

Academy Award winner Tom Hanks was born to play a lot of roles, from his turn as a humble but hearty lawyer in Steven Spielberg's Bridge of Spies to the heroic captain at the heart of Captain Phillips. In SullyHanks once again commands a role that seems tailor made for his many strengths as an actor. Teaming with another Academy Award winner in director Clint Eastwood (American Sniper, Million Dollar Baby), Hanks stars as Captain "Sully" Sullenberger in Sully

The name "Sully" became part of the American lexicon on January 15, 2009, when the steel-nerved captain gave the world the “Miracle on the Hudson.” Captain Sully safely glided his disabled plane and his 155 passengers onto the cold waters of the Hudson River. Sully revolves around not just this moment, but the investigation that was unfolding after he became an American icon that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.

Sully's cast includes Aaron Eckhart (Olympus Has Fallen, The Dark Knight) as Sully’s co-pilot, Jeff Skiles, and Oscar nominee Laura Linney (The Savages, Kinsey) as his wife, Lorraine Sullenberger.
The screenplay, by Todd Komarnicki, is based on the book "Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters," by Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow. The film lands in theaters on September 9. Check out the trailer below.
