Watch the 1st Clip From X-Men: Apocalypse

The first X-Men Apocalypse clip has arrived, and it features the return of Rose Byrne’s Moira MacTaggert giving Professor X (James McAvoy) the low down on some seriously disturbing information. MacTaggert reveals that her work has been focused on tracking down a certain all-powerful mutant. Further, if the stories are too be believed, MacTaggert explains that this original mutant, Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), was said to have recruited four super mutants to help aid him in his quest for world domination. Or so the old stories go. Naturally this brings obvious analogies to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. In a nice twist, MacTaggert suggests that perhaps this spooky old story about the first mutant and his four henchmen wasn't ripped from the Bible, but rather, the Bible took it from the real version.

Here's your Apocalypse boilerplate: Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27.
