Stranger Things 3 Announces a Summer Release

These poor kids. Haven’t they been through enough already? The Upside down, the Mind Flayer, the Demogorgons. That should be enough for any preteen years. Can the next season be called Awkward School Dances or Boring Summer Job? No? It’s still called Stranger Things? Fine, but please pick on someone other than Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) this time.

Your favorite supernatural teenage torture show dropped in on the New Year to announce its return. Interrupting a broadcast of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, the ball drop gave way to fireworks in the Upside down signaling a patriotic premiere date. Stranger Things 3 is coming to TV screens this July 4.

After the Stranger Things drought of 2018, it is a relief to be nearing new episodes. The Halloween time drop of 2017 was extra special, but July is back on schedule with the initial release. Stranger Things made its debut in July of 2016 introducing us all to a new use for Christmas lights.

The new clip once again referenced the Starcourt Mall that is repeatedly alluded to in the teasers. Apparently, the hot new hangout will be the site of new monstrous occurrences. At least two of the released episode titles for season 3 involve the mall where Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) is gainfully employed. He’ll be joined by Robin (Maya Hawke) who has only made a brief appearance in the first teaser for the new season.

There are few moments more magical in adolescence than the freedom of a summer evening, but Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) looks anything but carefree on the new poster. Will, the resident punching bag for the paranormal, also looks terrified by what would otherwise be a fun Independence Day firework show over Hawkins. Of course, those two characters have been most affected by the strange goings on since season 1. If anyone can spot trouble, it would be this pair. Strange things are coming, indeed.
