Jimmy Fallon’s Touching Tribute to his Mom

Jimmy Fallon returned to The Tonight Show last night after taking a week off to spend time with his family following the death of his mother on November 4, Gloria. In an emotional, moving tribute, Fallon spoke about his mom’s influence on him, his comedy, and his life.

“She was the best audience, the one I was always trying to make laugh,” Fallon said at the top of his show last night. “She was such a fan of the show and everything I did,” he told viewers.

“I feel so grateful to be able to do this every single night,” he said. “I’m very appreciative of all the support from all of you that my family received over the past week. We’re going to continue to work really hard to bring some light and some laughter into the world. Thank you for watching. Thank you for helping me and my family recover from this loss.”

Fallon delivered a strong show with a heavy heart, welcoming guests Jeff Daniels, Mary J. Blige, and musical guest Taylor Swift. Despite his tragic loss, Fallon was still able to bring the laughs, as he did in this bit in which he lets viewers know what music they’ll want to avoid.
