The Countdown to “Avengers: Doomsday” Begins: Tickets to Go On Sale Early, Runtime Revealed

Tickets to see the Avengers assembled against Dr. Doom will be available next week.

Premium-format seats for the Russo Brothers’ upcoming epic Avengers: Doomsday will become available on July 20, The Hollywood Reporter scooped. The tickets are for Infinity Vision theaters, the new large-format designation that Disney announced would be available for select Doomsday theater screens. The studio created the new brand after Warner Bros. secured IMAX theaters for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part III for three weeks following the premieres of both films on December 18.

This means tickets will become available five months ahead of the release date. It also means we now know the runtime—two hours and 45 minutes’ worth of Avenging—and while the runtime could be tweaked before the Russos lock in the final cut, the fact that tickets will be available means 165 minutes is very close to the final runtime.

This runtime puts Doomsday ahead of the Russos’ 2018 epic Infinity War (149 minutes) but is still shorter than their 2019 film Endgame (181 minutes). Disney will also be re-releasing Endgame in theaters on September 25, with Infinity Vision tickets available for that next week as well.

The tickets are set to go on sale a few days before Marvel’s presentation at San Diego CinemaCon on July 25, when the full Doomsday trailer is expected to be revealed.

Doomsday features Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU in a brand-new role, after his previous turn as Tony Stark ended in Endgame with the ultimate heroic gesture. Then it was announced that Downey Jr. was returning as the iconic supervillain Dr. Doom. At last April’s CinemaCon, co-director Joe Russo said, “He’s not simply a villain — he’s one of the most complex Marvel characters. He’s always three moves ahead.”

The Avengers assembling to take on Dr. Doom include another returning champion, Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, who was last seen in Endgame as an old man after helping defeat Thanos (Josh Brolin) and choosing a quiet life over more Avenging.

Steve Rogers and Thor will be joined by a slew of heroes, including the Wakandans Shuri (Letitia Wright) and M’Baku (Winston Duke), the Fantastic Four’s Ben Grimm/the Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), and Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn).

There will be more. Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America (complicating Steve Rogers’ return, one assumes), Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. There’s more: the retro X-Men and the rest of the New Avengers* (really, the Thunderbolts, which include Pugh’s Belova, Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost, and David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov) will be on hand.

Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
