Storm Troopers Descend in New Star Wars Resistance Trailer

The galaxy is a big place. Not the Milky Way. Whatever far away and long-ago galaxy that hosts the events of Star Wars. Even though we have been catching up on a new generation in the movies, there is a lot more going on than can fit into three feature-length films. Enter Star Wars Resistance that premiered on Disney channel in October and has been picking up lightspeed. The animated series has been on winter break but returns this Sunday following an action-packed new trailer.

The series picked three decades after Return of the Jedi with super-pilot Poe Dameron tasking Kazuda Xiono (Christopher Sean) with infiltrating the First Order. As we know, they’re an extremely deadly army of soldiers and it’s an extremely dangerous mission. Characters from The Force Awakens have begun appearing in the series with a hologram broadcast of General Hux firing up the troops in the new trailer. His appearance signals that the timeline is swiftly moving closer to when we first met Rey.

Kazuda is stationed on the Colossus aircraft refueling station on the ocean planet Castilon with Tam (Suzie McGrath), Neeku (Josh Brener), and Torra (Myrna Velasco). So far Kazuda hasn’t endured much more than pirate attacks, but now a more serious development is on the horizon. Tie-fighters are delivering Storm Troopers as the First Order utilizes the ship as a staging area. The stakes are more serious than ever for the Resistance spy.

Although just halfway through its freshman season, Star Wars Resistance has picked up on the extensive Star Wars fan base. Season two has already been ordered for the fall. If you aren’t a fan yet, here’s the official series information:

The voice cast includes Christopher Sean (“Days of Our Lives”) as Kazuda Xiono; Suzie McGrath (“East Enders”) as Tam Ryvora; Scott Lawrence (“Legion”) as Jarek Yeager; Myrna Velasco (“Elena of Avalor”) as Torra Doza; Josh Brener (“Silicon Valley”) as Neeku Vozo; Donald Faison (“Scrubs”) as Hype Fazon; Jim Rash (“Community”) and Bobby Moynihan (“DuckTales”) as Flix and Orka, respectively; Oscar Isaac (“Star Wars: The Last Jedi”) as Poe Dameron and Gwendoline Christie (“Game of Thrones”) as Captain Phasma.

Renowned Lucasfilm Animation veteran Dave Filoni (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Star Wars Rebels”) created the series; Athena Portillo (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Star Wars Rebels”), Justin Ridge (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Star Wars Rebels”) and Brandon Auman (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”) serve as executive producers; and Amy Beth Christenson (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Star Wars Rebels”) is art director.

Star Wars Resistance returns this Sunday.
