Fans Spot a Potential New Clue in that Avengers 4 Image

More than a month has passed since the Russo Brothers dropped that cryptic image on the set of Avengers 4 with a supposed hidden clue in sight. The black and white image seems to be pretty devoid of any recognizable MCU imagery, but there is still a lot to look at. People were counting the shapes that made the letter “A,” trying to make out hidden words, and zooming in on Joe Russo’s computer screen. Now, fans have zeroed in on the easel that seems to pop up in most of the theories. Is there a hidden image on display?

Most of the speculation has hinged on a title reveal – Avengers 4 has yet to receive an official name. Now, however, fans are trying to alter the photo to see if there’s an image beneath the surface. The particular focus at the moment is those very dark canvases. There’s a blurry grey and white canvas on the ground, a much darker grey above it, and a nearly black image on top.

This is as far as I got with the Russo brother’s posted image! I think that is a photo of captain marvel with the others, hope someone can clean this mess! from r/marvelstudios

A Reddit user fiddled with the shading and seemingly revealed a potential film poster. It’s extremely grainy and requires some imagination, but the user points out Captain Marvel may be positioned in the center. I never would have seen it on my own, but under suggestion, I tend to agree. A fellow fan took up the charge and potentially located Thanos, which would make sense. He was the focus of Infinity War and central to the promotion of that film.

Personally, I see potentially three people. One in the foreground (Thanos?), someone behind them on the left (Nebula?), and a potentially shirtless person on the right behind the middle guy. Credit to da_nif7y for the main image. from r/marvelstudios

If anyone has come close yet, the brothers aren’t letting on. We’ve had no follow up since the initial image was shared. Once they do confirm whatever mystery information we were meant to see on the photo, I hope they reveal the answer. This is a wild brain bender that is driving us mad. What exactly are we mean to look closely for? I’m almost more eager to know the answer to the puzzle than any actual film reveals at this point.

Avengers 4 opens in theaters May 3.
