Tom Holland Reveals Spider-Man: Homecoming Sequel Title

Look, if James Gunn can still make Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after the events of Avengers: Infinity Warthen Tom Holland can still star in the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel. Despite the cataclysmic events brought on by Thanos, you can still look forward to seeing Holland as Peter Parker in the upcoming film. The young star took to Instagram to reveal the film’s title, accidentally. Actually, it’s pretty clear this was the purpose of Holland’s Instagram post, but the actor is now infamous for accidentally letting spoilers slip (his Infinity War co-star Benedict Cumberbatch has tried hard in the past to keep him from spilling any more secrets), so this is made to feel like a slip when it’s actually just a reveal:

Sorry for no announcements, but I love you guys ♥️

Spider-Man: Far From Home is a pretty snappy title, and makes sense considering Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige already revealed that the Spidey sequel was going to start filming in early July in London. Feige said that while Spidey would be web-slinging in New York, as per usual, the Homecoming sequel would see the Queens based superhero having his passport stamped for the first time. (One wonders what he wrote as the purpose for his visit on his customs form.) We should note that just because they’re filming in London doesn’t mean that Far From Home necessarily will be set in London. Marvel has a soundstage there, so Spidey could end up fighting bad guys all over Europe.

As for how, exactly, Peter Parker will even be able to suit up considering the events of Infinity War will be answered in Avengers 4, which comes out on May 3, 2019, a full two months before Far From Home. It seems likely that Spidey will be brought back from the dead during Avengers 4, along with Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and the rest of the Guardians (save Gamora, sadly). Yet this is speculation. We won’t know for sure until the middle of next year, which feels like several centuries from now.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will hit theaters on July 5, 2019.
