Black Widow vs. the Black Order in New Avengers: Infinity War TV Spot

With Avengers: Infinity War officially less than a month away, we’re going to be seeing a lot of these brief bursts of new footage, like the one we shared yesterday of a sassy teen Groot and an inspirational T’Challa. Now we’ve got another new TV spot for you, with new sequences sprinkled among moments you’ve seen before (but, like us, probably don’t mind seeing again). The part of this new TV spot that crackles the most is Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) giving a much darker pep talk than T’Challa, and then fighting with Black Order member Covus Glaive (we think—it’s very quick so we’re giving our best guess here). We know that Black Widow has been involved in some off-the-books secret avenging since the events in Captain America: Civil War, and enters the battle against Thanos (Josh Brolin) a little weary and wary. Oh, and Black Widow’s blonde hair is way more than just a fashion statement—it speaks to a deeper change in the character.

“Joe and Anthony [Russo] really wanted our characters…wanted us to, kind of, feel like it had just been a period of time when we were both, sort of, under the radar just like different,” Johansson said to Comicbook.com of her and Cap’s life between Civil War and Infinity War during a set visit last year. “I think that red hair is a, sort of, signature of Natasha. They just wanted us to look different. So for me I thought, ‘Alright well maybe I’ll give a wink and nod to the other Widow’s story that have been out but with her.'”

There’s more new stuff here, including another, closer look at the very troubling torture scene in which Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is treated like a pin cushion, and a great, blink-brief sequence of Okoye (Danai Gurira) squaring off against one of Thanos’s monstrous minions in the Battle of Wakanda.

Check out the new spot below.
