It’s Official—Wonder Woman 2 is Coming in 2019

How good was Wonder Woman? So good, The Hollywood Reporter writes that Warner Bros. has earmarked a major release date for the sequel—December 13, 2019—right in the heart of the holiday season. While the film’s star, Gal Gadot, and director, Patty Jenkins, have yet to ink their deals, the two will almost definitely be returning after their smashing debut this past May.

Warner Bros. made the news official after showcasing some of their major upcoming films at Comic-Con this past weekend. One of those films, Justice League, stars Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, Ezra Miller’s Flash and Ray Fisher’s Cyborg. Fans in San Diego were treated to this four minute long trailer for the film, which put Wonder Woman front and center. Justice League is due this November, while WB also shared new footage from Momoa’s stand alone Aquaman film, which is due in December of 2018.

While many were hoping to get the Wonder Woman sequel news while in San Diego, it’s a surprise to no one that Warner Bros. is eager to team up Gadot and Jenkins as soon as they can.

Wonder Woman is making history, bringing people to the theater weekend after weekend at a rate that hasn’t been matched in 15 years at the North American box office—this past weekend it overtook Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
