John Cena Lends his Voice to Soft-Hearted Bull in new Ferdinand Trailer

John Cena was one of the most pleasant surprises in Amy Schumer's breakout comedy Trainwreck. Cena played Amy's hugely muscular, hugely conflicted boyfriend (he clearly preferred men to women) who had one of the most memorable arguments in a movie theater you'll ever see in a film. Cena's comedic timing was excellent, as if the former wrestler-turned-actor had been in the wrong profession until now.

In FerdinandCena plays the titular giant bull with a big heart whose mistaken for being a dangerous beast, captured, and taken away from home. Set in Spain (which has its long, literally tortured history with bullfighting) Ferdinand becomes, in essence, an escape film from here, as the big bull is determined to break free and go home, but in order to do so he must rally a team of misfits to help him hatch his plan.

Directed by Carlos Saldanha, Cena is joined by an all-star cast that includes Kate McKinnon, Gina Rodriguez, Daveed Diggs, Gabriel Iglesias, Bobby Cannavale, David Tennant, and Anthony Anderson.

Ferdindand hits theaters on  December 15, 2017
