Watch Ta-Nehisi Coates Discuss the new Black Panther

When you see the new Captain America: Civil Waryou'll be treated to one of the coolest superheroes of them all's first big-screen appearance. Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa (Black Panther) is a noble prince from the African nation of Wakanda with a seriously ferocious alter-ego. His fighting style in the film is so impressive that even the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) is taken aback. Black Panther all but steals the film in his brief but potent scenes.

Yet Boseman's Black Panther, and the upcoming stand-alone film about him from director Ryan Coogler is but one of the exciting things happening in Black Panther's world. You've probably heard that MacArthur Genius and National Book Award-winning writer Ta-Nehisi Coates ("Between the World and Me") and artist Brian Stelfreeze have created the latest Marvel Black Panther comic. In the video below, Coates talks about T'Challa as a prince, a king, and a scientist, and a man of honor. Coates created a dramatic upheaval in Wakanda that tests T'Challa in every way (and could be a good blueprint for the upcoming Black Panther film).

Combining one of the most exciting superheroes of all time with one of the most exciting writers of his generation was a masterstroke by Marvel. Check out the video below for yet more proof.
