Magneto Gets Mean in New X-Men: Apocalypse Clip

Bow down, mortals: this new X-Men: Apocalypse clip features sometime good guy/mostly seriously bad guy Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender) revealing himself as Magneto, the metal bending mutant who has been torturing poor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) ever since they became frenemies.

If you know anything about Erik Lehnsherr, it's that his transformation into a bad guy is weighted by history; his parents were ripped from him during the Holocaust, and his anger, his rage, and his power all flows from that original sin. In this clip, you sense how little Magnet actually enjoys hurting humans, but how he feels compelled to do, to make them feel what he's felt. His character has always been one of the most interesting in the mutant universe, and has been beautifully played by both Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender.

X-Men: Apocalypse comes out on May 27.
