December 13, 2022

Luncheon Plants New Roots in Los Angeles

WASHINGTON, DC — The WICT Network today announced it has formed a strategic partnership with the Motion Picture Association (MPA) in support of The WICT Network’s 2023 Signature Awards Luncheon. The luncheon will take place in Los Angeles at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on Tuesday, May 2, marking the first time the event has been held on the West Coast in over a decade. The partnership with the MPA underscores The WICT Network’s dedication to fortifying its new, more inclusive name and brand.

As the leading advocate of the film, television and streaming industry around the world, the MPA’s commitment to diversity, gender parity, authentic cultural representation, and creating opportunities for underrepresented communities makes them the perfect partner for The WICT Network, whose mission is to create women leaders in the industry with a specific focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. The luncheon’s new West Coast location will allow greater accessibility to entertainment and technology professionals — a critical and growing sector of The WICT Network.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the MPA, an organization that aligns with our strategic vision for diversity and inclusion,” said Maria E. Brennan, CAE, President & CEO, The WICT Network. “As so many iconic Hollywood institutions celebrate their centennials in 2023, there’s no better time for The WICT Network to lock arms with the MPA and its member companies and shine a spotlight on the individuals and organizations that are making strong inroads toward achieving gender equality in the entertainment industry.”

“It’s an honor for the MPA to partner with the WICT Network on this important gathering to celebrate women leaders in our industry and the inspiring work they’re doing to achieve gender parity in the industry,” said Gail MacKinnon, Senior Executive Vice President of Global Policy and Government Affairs for the MPA. “The MPA supports the WICT Network’s mission to expand opportunities and authentic representation across the creative community.”
