Statement by the MPAA on the NTIA Announcement Regarding Internet Domain Name Functions

STATEMENT BY THE MPAA ON THE NTIA ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING INTERNET DOMAIN NAME FUNCTIONS

Washington, DC — The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) issued the following statement today in reference to an announcement made by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) that it intends to initiate a process that will transition key Internet domain name functions to a multistakeholder organization:

“We welcome the opportunity to participate in the process that ICANN and the Internet community will convene to ensure clear accountability and that the continued safety, security, and stability of the Internet are maintained through an inclusive multi-stakeholder process. An Internet that achieves peak performance and the highest level of operational excellence will benefit businesses and consumers alike.”
